音乐品味，另一新篇章的开始。虽然没有深厚的音乐修养，但希望以耳朵的直觉带给听众不乏的音乐享受。爱好唱歌，虽不如专业歌手能带出歌中的精髓，但能舒服哼出旋律，也称得上是更直接的音乐品味吧。献给爱好唱歌的人：希望能从这里介绍一些难得的好作品，在唱歌的时候，也不妨品味歌词配合音符所结合的感动。
LOUNGE: Hopes to provide a avenue for karaoke frequents to recommend any of their favourite singles, which will not be missed on every or any sessions. | Till date, Nicholas Teo has released 2 solo albums distributed and marketed by EMI Music in Taiwan since last year. Being under the same label in China, the release of his karaoke albums was quite expected especially when his songs were well-received and popularly selected in karaoke lounges. In this column, the featured karaoke album, is the most recent one and one of the only 2 that you can find in the current market, with both of them imported from China. However, the track list for both karaoke album, are almost the same, because they are released in conjunction with his debut album. This difference is because the first one was released after the local edition which was distributed and marketed by Play Music, and the following one released only after this debut album landed in Taiwan's market. |

I have a friend, who frequently select this song to sing during karaoke sessions, and that was how I came into contact with this song too. From what I noticed, his songs are difficult to perform well, as many of us will tend to sing out of tune unknowingly. For songs like [Ji Mo Bian Jie], the opening of the song is really quite low, and to sound like you are 'singing' takes some skill I supposed. For this song, it is fairly smooth except to take note of some pitching. However I feel that it's not a catchy song which will leave not much impression after listening once. [Note that the current music video is an older version which was released with his debut album in Singapore and Malaysia] Difficulty: 3.5/5 |
| FUN WITH KARAOKE |
| I've attached several MV Karaoke clips from his lately released second album, and you should be able to find them easily in karaoke lounges as well. Under the label, EMI Music, I expect the release of his next karaoke album with the following songs in China soon, however I feel that it will take some time before this album will be imported to Singapore based on my experience. Most probably at the end of this year or early next year. Therefore for the time being, we can only settle with the following clips to fulfill your karaoke desires. |

| 17th TAIWAN GOLDEN MELODY AWARDS 第17届台湾金曲奖 |
This is the second time Lee Hom bagged the award for this category, with the first one 8 years ago for the album, Revolution. Lee Hom started off with the boy-next-door look when he made his debut appearance almost 10 years ago, however his musical talents were not widely recognised then. The turn of his music career was actually after he left Decca Records and joined SONYBMG subsequently and released the album, Revolution. From then onwards, Lee Hom has risen to become one of the top-notched musicians in Asia, and his albums are always highly anticipated every year. |
Tanya, under media speculation, finally won the title after being nominated 3 times previously in this category. She is also the second Singaporean after Stefanie Sun to bag this award in Taiwan. Her compositions have been widely sung by many fellow artists, and being a singer who was made a change over from singing English songs, to having 7 solo Mandarin albums under her name to date, she has to cope with language hindrances and adapt to a different music environment in Taiwan. However, her soulful stage performances have always grabbed the hearts of many audiences and were given the thumbs-up by many critics as well. Finally, Tanya was given this award recognition, one of her few major ones, for her splendid musical efforts. |

| JJ's Karaoke VCDs are easily available in both China and local edition, which is a blessing for JJ's fans and those who enjoy singing his songs. You should also be able to spot his latest Cao Cao karaoke VCD/DVD release in most notable local music stores today. To date, JJ has released 4 karaoke albums in conjunction with his music albums, from [Yue Xing Zhe], [Di Er Tian Tang], [89757] to [Cao Cao] lately. One of his most distinguished achievements was when his single [Jiang Nan] received overwhelming response in China brought his career to greater heights and won him numerous awards across Asia. He bagged several prestigious awards during his career, such as the Best Newcomer at the 15th Taiwan Melodies Awards, and Best Male Vocalist and Best Local Male Singer during Singapore Hits Awards last year. |
| In this column, I will be featuring 2 of his previously released China imported karaoke albums which should still be available in the market now. However if you have in mind of a more complete karaoke compilation album of JJ, I will strongly advise you to buy the lately released Cao Cao karaoke VCD/DVD album because it comprises of a selection of songs from all the 4 albums which he has released so far. Since this current album has a repetition of songs from his previous albums, it will not be wise to purchase this album if you owned his former albums. I'm expecting a later release of the China edition karaoke album which will feature songs only from his [Cao Cao] album, an exact replay of what happened last year when his third karaoke album was released in both local and China edition in which the latter was released several months later and comprised of songs from the same titled music album only. |

This is still one of my favourites to date and whenever I play this karaoke album, I will skip other tracks most of the times to select this song to enjoy. For guys, the most difficult part should be registering the high notes in the chorus part. For JJ, he normally sings at a much higher pitch as compared to other male artists. Therefore for the change to the higher notes, gather some breath and do it during the breaks of the chorus and you should sound fine. Difficulty: 4/5 |

This is his first single which marks the debut of his singing career. Among all his songs, this should be one of the easier to 'perform' during your karaoke sessions. If your ears have grown tired of hearing JJ's lately released tracks which have consist of complex and excessive musical arrangements as compared to the past, this song reviewed the beginning of his musical journey which showcases a simplistic yet moving melody. Difficulty: 3/5 |

This song definitely deserves to be one of the best duets we have heard in 2005. The crisp and clear voice of Jin Sha accompanied with JJ's familiar boyish R&B style was a surprise and fresh combination. What I like most about this song was the vocal arrangement which blended their voices beautifully especially in the chorus. Difficulty: 3/5 |

Her latest album [Wo Yao Kuai Le] was released with much anticipation due to her break from the music scene for almost a year in order to pursue her studies overseas. Her powerful vocal is still the attraction of her albums except she lacked the media exposure due to sloppy promotion scheme which was arranged for her especially for her last 2 albums, namely [Yong Gan] and [Ye Xu Ming Tian]. Fortunately, we have seen better record sales this time round and the selection of songs were closer to what we perceived her as in real life. One will have to challenge the high notes in the chorus and manage your breath well during certain breaks of the song. This is definitely a suitable song to relieve your emotions as well. Difficulty: 4.5/5 |

One of the more promising newcomers we have seen this year. Another gifted composer whom we have seen rising in the music scene, after the appearance of David Tao and Jay Chou. In his debut album, he impressed the audiences with 10 of his compositions, performed in a soothing R&B style. The hardest part to conquer in this song should be the ending notes of every verse in the chorus, as you have to make use of the technique of interchanging the projection of your voice between the high and low keys. The R&B feel must be instilled into the song or else the melody will fail to blend with your voice musically. Difficulty: 4.5/5 |
