MUSIC LOUNGE [JULY 06]

LOUNGE: Hopes to provide a avenue for karaoke frequents to recommend any of their favourite singles, which will not be missed on every or any sessions. Share your views and thoughts on the selected titles and themes weekly.  Specially dedicated to music lovers as well.

Finally both Kelly's songs can be sung in K-BOX. I believe this was only possible due to the release of her album [Love Me Kelly] in Taiwan just recently, and the release of both Karaoke version is part of a promotion strategy to at least leave an impression in Taiwan especially when she was not arranged to promote her album personally over there. Hopefully she can be the next local singer to do us proud overseas! [PRJ@2006]

In TOUCH
Z CHEN 张智成
Actually we haven't really lost touch with his songs here in Singapore, as compared to Taiwan.
Z Chen managed to return to Taiwan together with his new album after disappearing 2 years from the local music scene. The green light to release this new album by his record company, HIM, was only possible after supporters bombarded the company's website forum especially when his 5th album, Kuai Le, was not released formerly in Taiwan, only. The news of his comeback was much awaited for, however this did not reflect in the sales of his album. Even though he did successfully hold a mini concert in conjunction with the release of his album, I feel that this time round, his record company make a sluggish effort in promoting the album itself, which was rather disappointing. The new album was a mixture of new and old songs as well, which included songs which was recorded in the last album that was not formerly release in Taiwan, and 2 brand new tracks which were average-graded ballads that have failed to leave much impression musically. The lack of sincerity in the production of this album, is definitely one of the many reasons why Z Chen was not able to capture the hearts of the audiences even with his soulful performances in this saturated pop music industry.
Hopefully this does not spell the end of his music career...

AI QING SHU 爱情树

This song was composed by TANK, who is under the same record label as Z Chen. I feel that this song is inferior as compared to previous compositions of TANK and should not be chosen as the title track. The immense popularity of TANK at that point of time was sought, to boost the record sales. However, this plan was backfired, because the focus should be on Z Chen and at the same time, critics have penalised this song as a duplicate of another song sung by Celine Dion, resulting in the dip of the sales. Personally I prefer [Rang Shi Jian Kai Kou] composed by Li Zhi Qing. What a waste.

Difficulty: 3.5/5

HEN XIANG NI 很想你

I think for most of us in Singapore, this song sounds familiar especially if you have been catching the Superstar competitions previously. The hardest part will definitely be the chorus of the song, especially at the high notes at the end of some of the verses. This song can be rather touching, if you ensure a right amount of emotions to be immersed in its melody. I think Z Chen did quite a good job in sounding musically moving for this song.

Difficulty: 4/5

INFO: [Hen Xiang Ni] is Track 6 in Z Chen's 3rd album [Listen To Me] released in 2003.
