| Importance: As though she is not mentioned in the manga, Meiling is highly recognized in the anime. In the Japanese version, Meiling is not only Syaoran's relative, but also his fiancee. She is boastful and competitive, but all that soon changes in the third season. In the English-dubbed version, she only plays as Syaoran's annoying relative. Personality: Meiling's fiesty characteristic shows that she does anything to get what she wants. Her affection are obviously aimed at Syaoran, and feels that Sakura is in the way; therefore, a big rivalry forms between the two. (Even though Sakura is uncertain why Meiling is so competitive) Like Syaoran, she is very skilled in the martial arts, and will fight for anyone that earns her friendship. Although the relationship between Sakura and Meiling started off rocky, Meiling begins to care for her and evenutally becomes a good friend. She even goes as far as letting Sakura have Syaoran. (But that doesn't happen until the Second Movie) Meiling's reason for coming to Tomeda is care for Syaoran, and help him capture the Clow Cards. |
