Chap. 4
The nite finally ended and we all decided to go back to the dorm, Tiva decided to go with Aj and Joe around campus, leaving Me, Nick, Brian and Leighanne. “Did you have fun Courtney?” Leighanne asked me. “I did, I missed hanging out with Nick.” I said smiling at her. “I could tell, Nick seemed to be having an awesome time with you.” She said winking at me. We arrived back at the dorm and Brian and Leighanne decided to go out and have a drink. “Don’t be out all nite.” I said kidding with them. “Yes mother.” Brian said giving me a goofy look. I laughed, “Bye ya’ll have a nice time.” “We will.” Leighanne said as Brian led her out the door. “So….” Nick said looking down at me as I sat down on my couch. “So..” I said laughing, “Sit with me.” I said patting the couch. “Kay.” Nick said flopping down. “Give me a minute, I’m going to put my PJ’s on.” I said. “Courtney, wont you feel weird in front of me?” Nick asked. “NO, silly, we used to spend the nite together when we were little (Not in the same bed.) what makes you think I would feel weird?” I asked. “Well, you’ve changed, you know GROWN?” Nick asked grinning at me. “YOU’re SO SICK, I’m going to have a bra on!!!” I cried playfully hitting him. “Oh…” Nick said laughing. “Be back in a sec.” I said running into my room. I threw my hair up in a messy bun, and threw on some sweat pants and a white tank top. I was back in about five minutes and Nick had already begun to flip through the channels. “Hey…” I said happily and I sat down next to him. “Hey…” as he looked over his eyes sort of scanned my body, “Wow, Courtney you look so…” he stopped himself and cleared his throat. “Um, I mean, took you long enough.” He said recovering from what he was about to say. I just smiled, he was redder than a cherry. “I look what??” I asked grinning at him. “What?? I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He said waving his hand in the air. “Yea, right.” I said and got up, “How bout we watch “The Matrix”?? “Oh, yea, I love that movie.” Nick cried. “I had a feeling you would.” I giggled, “You were always the one for a good action movie.” I said, I looked down at him as I moved passed him. I was putting in the tape when Nick said “Beautiful.” “What??” I turned around. “I said I meant to say…you look beautiful.” Nick said. “I’m sure.” I scoffed. “Courtney you do, you look natural, fresh, its been a long time since I’ve seen you, but you haven’t really changed, you’re still the wonderful girl I left.” He said quietly as I sat down next to him. I looked over at him, and I could tell he was serious, I must admit he looked good, not quite so many pimples, hehe, his hair was shorter, cut. He looked his age for once, but one thing that hadn’t changed about him was those ocean blue, beautiful eyes. “Courtney…..hello??” Nick snapped his fingers. “W-w-what?” I asked coming out of my trance. “You were staring off into space, what ya thinkin’?” “Huh, oh nothing. I am just tired that’s all.” I said smiling. But I knew I had lied, we watched the movie, it was funny watching it with Nick, he was real serious about it, he gets into things like that. The movie ended and I pressed the rewind button on the remote, and looked up, Nick was staring at me, “Courtney I-I-I have to tell you something, I- - “ The phone rang….”Hello?” I asked into the receiver. “Courtney hey, its Christine!!” she said happily. “OH MY GOD, HEY!!!” I cried. Christine and I had gone to high school together, I hadnt seen her in like three months, she was going to school at A&M and was studying to be a journalist. “I am coming to Austin and was wondering if I could see you.” She said. “OF COURSE!!!” I cried. “WOW, first Nick and now you!!” I laughed. “Who’s Nick?” She asked. “OH, Nick was my friend I grew up with he’s here visiting me.” I said. “REALLY?? Is he cute, you like Nick Carter cute.” (She didn’t know about Nick either.) “Um, heh, you could say that.” I said. “Cool, well I’ll be there this weekend, I still cant believe you guys beat us in the football game.” She cried. (HAHA Christine!! :P) “Well, of course, we’re better than you!!” I cried laughing. We said good bye, and hung up. “Who was that?” Nick asked slouching down in the couch. “Oh, that was one of my best friends from high school, Christine Bardsley, she’s coming to see me this weekend. “Oh, I wont be able to meet her, I’ve gotta leave and finish the tour on Friday.” He said sadly. “Oh, well you can meet her some other time I guess.” I said. “Yea, um, Courtney I have something I have to tell you, its real important.” Nick said quietly. He took my hand in his, “I-I-I love you.”Nick said, “But- -“I started to protest, but Nick put his finger over my lips.” “Let me finish, I have always loved you, I just didn’t realize it until after I had left.” “I want to be in your life Courtney, I know I made the mistake of not staying in touch, that’s my fault, but I never stopped thinking about you, I never stopped caring, I was scared I guess, scared that you might have forgotten about me, about us. Please let me try to make it up to you, if you don’t want a relationship right now, that’s fine, but please let me be your best friend again, I want to know you again Court.” He said coming closer to me. “Nick, I know that you mean well, I want to give you that chance of knowing me again, but its been so long. Seven years, how can we make up for seven years?” I asked, tears were forming in my eyes, I didn’t want to lose him again. “We’ll go slow, just let me be the one to comfort you and be there for you, please.” Nick said. He leaned over and kissed me on the cheek. “I’m going to bed, see you in the morning. Good nite, beautiful.” He said smiling. “Good nite Nicky.” I said quietly so he wouldn’t hear. He shut the door to the extra room. I had a lot of thinking to do, I had to talk with Tiva and Christine. 1
