Ch. 6

The next morning the girls were packing for the cruise. They packed more than they needed for a week.

"I wonder what we're gonna do on the cruise?" Trisha said outloud.

"Who knows?! I am so excited."

"Maybe Brian will ask you out! Wouldn't that be romantic?"

Jennifer frowned slightly as she closed her bag, "Trish, it would be, but you know that I don't want that."

Trisha sighed, "Gosh, Jennifer, you and Brian have gone on a date every weekend for the past 7 months. He's crazy about you and you just want friendship. What is the problem?"

"Brad. Every time I think of being with Brian I remember the whole Brad situation."

"Jenny, Brad is gone and he's not coming back. Have you even told Brian about what happened? "

Jennifer glared at Trish, "Trish, Let's just meet the guys and not discuss this anymore."

The girls left their apartment without another word about Brad. When they arrived at AJ's house they found Brian and AJ waiting for them eagerly.

"Are you ready to have the time of your life?" AJ asked excitedly.

"Yep!" Trisha smiled hugging him tightly.

"Let's go!" Brian said draping his arm around Jen's shoulder. The four climbed into AJ's SUV.

When they arrived at the docks Trish was blown away. She couldn't believe the beautiful boat.

They boarded the boat and were shown to their rooms. AJ and Trish were going to share a room and Brian and Jen were going to as well.

"Are you okay with this Jenny?" Brian asked.

"Sure! Brian, we've shared a room before. We shared a tent that one time when we went camping."

"There were only a few rooms left on the ship and they are all honeymoon suites."

"Oh. Yeah, it still all right."

Brian took the keys and opened the door for Jenny. She stepped inside and looked around in awe.

"It's beautiful." she whispered.

The room had a king sized water bed, champagne, roses, a whirlpool bathtub, a wonderful view of the ocean, candles were l it everywhere. Aside from this there was a big screen tv sitting right in front of the bed.

"Doesn't even look like a hotel room, does it?"

Jenny shook her head as she walked to the window and looked out at the ocean, "Oh Brian! It's breathtaking!" She turned to him smiling.

"I'm glad you like it." He wrapped his arms around her waist. And kissed the top of her head. Jennifer pulled away from Brian slowly, "Brian, I think Trish and AJ said they would be eating on lower dock let's go hang out with them."

Brian agreed and he and Jen walked down to the lower dock in search of AJ and Trisha. But the couple was no where to be seen.

"Let's eat over there." Brian pointed to the only empty table. He took Jen's hand and led her through the crowd.

They sat down and ordered their appetizers.

"Jenny, I really wasn't expecting to fall in love with you. When I met you, I was so hurt and terrified, but now I love you with all my heart and I want to be with you, will you be my girl friend?"

"Oh my gosh, Brian. I... I... You ... um," tears filled her eyes. She quickly left Brian sitting alone at the table.

"JEN!" he jumped up and chased after her. Hearing him call after her made her walk even faster.

"Wait up, Jen. Wait!" he called again.

When he finally caught up with her he grabbed her arm.

"What do you want?" she cried.

"Why did you jump up and run off, Jen? You didn't even answer my question at all?"

Jennifer turned to walk away from him again but he grabbed her arm again and pulled her close to his chest.

"I really care about you, Jen. Whatever happened to you in the past doesn't matter."

"Brian, It's just that..I... don't know how I feel about you. I mean I know I like you a lot but I have had to deal with a lot of pain in my life and I am just not prepared to deal with anything else. Brian frowned. He looked over Jen's shoulder to see AJ and Trisha approaching them. Trisha had seen the whole scene.

She took Jen to the side.

"Now what?!"

"He asked me out. And I ran off and then I told him that I really didn't know how I felt about him."

Trisha rolled her eyes, "Jenny, look, we have known each other for about 15 years and I know you better than anyone else does. I know you are in love with him. You have to put Brad behind you. Brian forgot about Nikki, why can't you let go of him and what happened?"

Jen sighed, "I don't know Trisha. If you know me so well tell me why I can't forget it?"

"As your best friend I demand you to go over there and apologize to Brian, and tell him you'll think about it. .. and that you were just a little over wheeled."

With that Jennifer turned around and walked up to Brain and took his hand, "Brian, I'm sorry for going all psycho on you. I do like you. I like you a lot. I.. I.. uh was just kinda blown away. Please don't be mad."

Brian's eyes softened, "Okay, Jennifer. It' okay..I understand. Really I do. Just promise me next time you won't run off."

He wiped the tears from her eyes as she nodded.

AJ decided to break the awkwardness, "Let's sit down and have something to eat. I'm starving."

They walked over to the table and sat down to eat. Brian was relieved that Trish had came along to fix the problem.

Later on that night Trish realized she left her purse on the lower deck and Brian offered to help her look for it.

Jenny and AJ were watching "Friends" in AJ's room while they waited for Brian and Trisha to return.

"Jen, I know you really don' t want to talk about this ... but I am going to bring it up because of the fact that you are the reason why me and Trish met. What is your deal.. why won't you go out with Brian? I mean I know you like him."

Jennifer looked at AJ who seemed genuinely concerned.

"It's just, I had a boyfriend not too long ago named Brad and well, I really loved him and a lot of things happened between us that I would rather not discuss."

"Did he rape you?"

"What the hell kind of question is that?! No, he didn't rape me."

"Shit girl, calm down. I'm sure for whatever happened, I'm sure Brian will understand. He's a really wonderful guy."

"You don't think I know that? I am crazy about Brian. Brian is the most amazing guy I have ever met. And I would love nothing more than to have a relationship with him but really my past haunts me."

AJ was frustrated with Jennifer because he knew that she liked Brian but something was holding her back.

"Look, chick ... just think about it. He's really cares about you."

Jen nodded, "I will think about it. I promise you I will. If me and Brian are meant to be together I guarantee you it will be worth the wait."

"If you say so." AJ finished as Brian and Trish returned. 1
