CHAPTER FOUR
Pay Back Time

Reaching up to the cupboard, Kiley pulled out a glass and filled it with Coke. Just as she placed it on the bench, a pair of hands squeezed her round the waist, making her jump to the side.

“Hey!” she shrieked, spinning round to see who had crept up behind her.

“Brian. I should have known” she laughed when she saw him grinning mischievously at her. “Haven’t you heard of a door bell?” she asked turning back round.

“Yes I have. But it seems that your music was too loud for the poor little door bell to be heard.”

Kiley smiled apologetically and reached to turn down the volume. “Sorry”

Brian just smiled. “You have good taste”

“Thanks”

Grabbing her bar of chocolate and drink she made her way into the living room and turned on the t.v. “So why are you here?”

“I was bored.”

“Oh, so you’re bored and you come and see me? Nice” she teased.

“No, I didn’t mean it like that. Can I have some of your chocolate?” he asked leaning towards her, a puppy dog look on his face.

Kiley offered him a bit and they sat and chatted for a while. After a while Brian got up off the couch and went and stood next to the window. Looking out across the city he realised he could see for miles.

“You’ve got a really nice place here” he observed, Kiley joining him.

“Yeah, I think I got lucky, but, compared to your house, I bet this is nothing!”

Brian smiled, then asked for another bit of chocolate. “No! It’s mine! You’ve already had some. Go find something in the kitchen if you’re that desperate.”

“Kile....” he whined. “You’ll get all fat eating that on you own. Pleeeeease?”

“Charming! But I can, and I will eat it. Sorry!”

Before she knew what was happening Brian had grabbed her round the waist and was tickling her furiously.

“Brian!!” she shrieked as he dragged her over to the couch, straddling her, tickling her with one hand, trying to grab the chocolate bar with the other.

“Give me the chocolate!” he laughed, trying his best to sound menacing.

“No! Get off me!” Kiley howled, trying with all her might to push him off her. Mustering up enough energy she managed to throw the chocolate a little way across the room. Finally she managed to squirm out from underneath him, flipping him back so he was on the couch, her on top of him

“Okay Kiley, I’m sorry!”

“Na-ah. This is pay back time!” she said, tickling him, enjoying the pleasure she got from seeing him being tortured. “Now you know what it’s like Brian!” she laughed, her stomach hurting from laughing so much.

“Kiley! Please!” he begged, tears forming in his eyes.

“Considering you’re a man, you really are rather weak aren’t you?!” she teased, making him laugh even harder, his efforts to push her off him becoming even weaker.

Suddenly the door burst open and in walked Lori.

Kiley looked up as she heard Lori cough, catching her attention.

“Oh, um hi Lori! Fancy coming over here and helping me out?” Kiley laughed, Brian catching her off guard, pushing her off him and running to grab the chocolate bar.

Kiley sat, shocked, as she watched Brian taking the chocolate. “Thanks Lori! Look what you’ve made me do!”

Lori didn’t reply, she stood, frozen to the spot, as she realised her flat mate and best friend Kiley had been having what looked like a play fight with Brian Littrell, a world famous singer.

“Hi Kiley, erm... what the hell are you doing?!” she asked, trying to control her shock at finding Brian Littrell in her apartment.

Brian glanced at Kiley, catching her eye, making her giggle. “Um, well Brian here thought it’d be a good idea to try and steal my chocolate, and I think he has now learnt, never do that again.” At the mention of Brian’s name, Lori returned her gaze to him, then back to Kiley again.

“Yeah, but I won eventually” he added, waving the bar in front of her face.

“How...how...do you know....” she stuttered, still in awe of his presence.

“Lori, this is Brian. Remember, film premiere Brian?” Kiley explained, climbing off the couch.

Lori opened her mouth, but nothing came out, unable to believe she hadn’t twigged who he was back then. She consoled herself with the fact it had been dark at the time and she was under the influence of alcohol.

“Hi” Brian said, smile on his face. “Chocolate?” he offered, holding out the bar.

“Um, no...thanks” she said looking at it as if it were something she had never seen before.

“Anyway, as I was saying, Brian was ‘bored’ so he came here, and I think I cured his little ‘boredom’ problem...”

Lori looked back at Brian, a bewildered look on her face, completely in awe of the situation she was in.

Looking back at Brian, she found it hard to believe the person she had seen on t.v that morning was now in her apartment. “Well... I better go and.... put my stuff away...” she stuttered, walking into her room, looking over her shoulder at regular intervals on her way, just to make sure he was still here and hadn’t magically disappeared.

As soon as her door was shut, Kiley and Brian burst out into a fit of giggles. “Well, I think we well and truly freaked her out!”

“Yeah, I think that, for once, you may be right”

“Hey!” Kiley exclaimed, playfully punching him on the arm, picking up her empty glass and going into the kitchen, placing it in the sink, Brian following along behind.

* * * * * *

“Why on earth didn’t you tell me Brian was a Backstreet Boy?!” Lori exclaimed as soon as Brian left the apartment.

“I thought you knew!”

“I so did not know! I would have like, died if I knew! I mean he’s so famous! You could have said! You know what I’m like! I would have been going on and on about it!”

“Like you are now?”

“Ha-ha....so...” Lori continued, figuring something out in her head. “Are you two kinda... together?”

Kiley looked at her friend, eyes wide. “No!”

“Oh.” she said, sounding disappointed. “You looked like you were”

“Well, no Lori, sorry to disappoint you. Just friends” Kiley said finally, heading towards her room. She stood in the doorway for a second, a smile on her face, remembering the afternoon’s events. But, along with the smile, there was also the niggling feeling that Lori had hit a nerve. Do I really want to be just friends with Brian? Do I want more than that? she asked her self, but as soon as she had, she pushed it to the back of her mind, she entered her room and closed the door behind her, leaving Lori alone to take in the fact she’d just met a ‘Backstreet Boy!’ 1
