A nap.
Cuddled up with the General.
It sounded wonderful at the time.
Too bad your brain won't cooperate and let you snooze. No...the brain is revving, powering up to scatter your thoughts afar. Everything as mundane as whether you cleaned up that spill in the car to what your place in the scheme of life, and goals and...
"You're not napping." Voice muffled as his face is partially burrowed into his pillow. Slightly raspy from having just woken.
Glad someone around this place can sleep.
Although boinking a campus full of women, he probably needs every bit of sleep he can catch.
"Nope." Unrepentant. You stop the wiggle just as the urge hits your feet.
Feets wanna go. Your feet move even when you're dead asleep. Part and parcel of that nervous energy of yours that has you tapping and jiggling a foot at all times.
A soft sigh stirs the hair on your neck and you shiver. "Go back to sleep. I'm fine. Just thinking."
"Mmmm." He shifts closer, spooning up against you and slipping an arm around your waist to hold you against him. "Your mind is racing."
Oops. Downside of being a Jedi. Must suck at times to be around so many women who think loudly.
The heat of his body is relaxing.
Intoxicating.
Your muscles, tensed at wanting to move, begin to relax. Unfortunately your mind grabs that energy and goes even more directions, even faster.
Song lyrics. Story ideas. Goals. Things you forgot during the day. That snappy come-back you'd been dying to utter but couldn't think of.
Damn.
"I'm not hyperactive." Dryly. You'd swear that was a tendril of amusement you caught.
He snuggles closer, lips just touching the skin at the join of your neck and shoulder. "I could feed you chocolate and see if the caffeine calms you down."
"I," you reply with great dignity, "am calm. My mind is a separate entity that has it's own agenda."
A brush of warm air against your skin as he chuckles in amusement. "I must be low on that agenda if it has so many other things to consider."
You squirm around, needing to face him. "No." Insistant. "No." Put your forehead against his and stare somberly into those eyes you love so very much.
Watch in wonder as the colors shift.
"You were sleeping," you point out. "I didn't mean to wake you up." Not vocalizing that he needs his sleep and you feel a bit guilty at having disturbed that.
He shifts to twine a leg over your legs, leaning his body forward. Pressing the length of his body into yours. Smiling as you slip your arms around his waist and run your hands up his back. Dips his head to whisper in your ear, "I was teasing you, love."
You close your eyes as one of his hands winds into your hair, stroking gently against your scalp. All but purring at his touch.
"I certainly don't expect to be the focus of your thoughts *all* the time."
"Just a large percentage?" You smile, eyes still closed, and relax against him completely. "You're easy on the mind, Obi-Wan Kenobi. It's no hardship."
Feel your mind slowing, the edges of thought blurring as the heat of his body lulls you back towards sleep.
A momentary regret pings your thoughts that you're wasting a perfect opportunity here...
Low chuckle, deep in his chest, almost a purring rumble as he kisses your forehead. "Sleep. I'll be here when you wake up."
"Promise?" Like a child. Wanting reassurances.
A kiss ghosts over your each of your eyelids.
You hear the rain begin, soft pattering of drops hitting the window.
"Promise." Barely a whisper.
Maybe you heard it in your mind.
Floating off, smiling as the rain and the heat of the General's body lull you to sleep.
