Ellie looked down at the list Darry had thrust at her through the cracked door. Man, what had she gotten herself into? Well, she'd better get to it. She knew better than to go to the freshmen for help. They'd pretty much forgiven her, due to the help of lots of alcohol, but she was pretty sure that they wouldn't be offering any services for a while.
Okay...
1) Unlock the library and send Xani to the Mediator's office to meet Dorotea. Have Mr. Vocab help.
Mr. Vocab? Why him? He was a wimp. He'd never get through that superglue. Ellie sighed. Well, he'd probably be in Tasha's room, so the freshmen headed for the stairs. She knocked on Tasha's door and much to her chagrin Mr. Vocab answered the door...in his skivvies.
"Ah, Vocab man! Come on, give a girl a break." Ellie screamed as she shielded her eyes. "I need you to come help me."
"Grrr."
"Who is that?" Yelled Tasha. "Get back in here you stud!"
"Grrr."
And the door promptly slammed in Ellie's face. Ellie huffed.
Haken.
She was starting to get a little fond of the big brute. Not like that, mind you! A girl had standards. But the big mass of muscles was very helpful and he never questioned her. She liked that in a man. He took orders well.
She found him sparring on the far side of the rugby pitch, the tent and other party materials still strewn across the field. 'Hmm, must get someone on that,' Ellie thought.
She dragged the gladiator back to the library and explained in small words, so he could understand the task before him.
"Now, carefully pry these open. It's just a little superglue on the locks. Don't ruin the doors, Dorotea will skin me." Ellie warned.
The big moose grabbed a hold of each door and pulled, muscles flexing under the strain. It didn't take much and both doors promptly popped off their hinges and hung in space, suspended by the strength of Haken.
"Way to go, moose boy! Well, if I can get the grey faced, jet haired whatever to go back to her, maybe the Librarian won't mind. I'm sure that is something Cal or Vocab can fix, it's just a hinge." Ellie strode into the dimmed library, lit only by the working photocopier. And she wished she hadn't walked in just in time to witness the Xanatos copying his butt!
She walked over and casually picked up one of the copies. "What you couldn't just look in the mirror? See, grey! It's grey on your ass, and it's grey on the paper! Now pull up your pants and follow me! Dorotea needs you pronto!"
"Well, hello, kitten. I don't think we've met. Maybe I should leave my knickers down." Xani purred.
"Oh, please. I prefer my men tan and sane, so don't flatter yourself. And don't dawdle. Let's go." Ellie grabbed him by a lock of hair and drug him pants down to Laure's office.
She rapped on the door.
"Cal, that better be more strawberries, and no, you're not coming in!" Laure yelled through the door.
"It's Ellie. Tell Dorotea I've got a present for her." Ellie yelled back.
Dorotea cracked the door and Ellie shoved Xani in.
"Sorry, about the doors, here's your man." Ellie said as she pulled the door closed.
"Oh, and she even got him ready for me!" Dorotea squealed in delight as she noticed Xani's pants around his ankles.
Ellie sighed and wiped her brow.
Okay...
2) Give tigers some milk and clean Shana's desk.
Easy enough. She found the tigers frolicking in the hall and lured them both to the bar with some pounce treats.
Judy began to protest as she saw what was coming through her door.
"Hey, you got any milk back there? The library doors are busted and Darry's locked in the clinic. They gotta stay here for a little while. Hey, she gave you an appointment remember?" Judy stopped her retort and reached into the fridge for the milk. She poured two large portions and timidly took them to the cats.
"Careful, don't give them any more, it will give them the runs. And be sweet to the girl, she's expecting."
Judy stared in shock at Ellie. "You owe me," she told the freshmen.
"Sure, just let me know. Oh," she pulled out her list, "Darry would like some more drinks, she said you knew the order, and some trail mix with M&M's."
"Fine, I'll take a tray up."
"Thanks, Judy, you're the best."
Then she found Edmund standing studiously in the corner of the hall and let him know how untidy Shana's desk was and how badly it was in need of a waxing. He headed off in the direction of her office double time.
Okay...that took care of numbers one, two, and six. Three more to go.
3) Move the coffin to the library.
Ellie found Haken still standing outside the library holding the doors and she made quick work of having him get the coffin from the hall outside the clinic.
She even helped him get it into the library. Physical labor...she hoped Darry appreciated her.
Okay...
4) Emmy needed more nail polish remover.
Geez, how many coats had Dorotea used! Well, Ellie never wore nail polish so she raided Kendra's drawer and got another bottle from Jen and Kymira.
She found Emmy in the General's office still scrubbing away at his nails, and not looking very happy about it.
She stopped at the doorway and received a glare from the Diva.
"I'll just set these here for you, Emmy." Ellie said and slowly set the bottles on the floor in the doorway.
The General gave her the Look, Ellie swooned, and Emmy adjusted her tiara. Then Ellie bolted.
Okay...
5) Call Dande about SP.
SP? Wasn't that the jerk Senator who dumped Darry? What an ass! Well, he didn't know what he was missing. She was doing a number on Cicero at the moment.
She headed back to Shana's office, found it was clean and empty and borrowed the phone.
"Hey, Dande?" Ellie asked as she answered.
"Well, hello, Ellie." Dande said sweetly. "How was the party?"
"It went okay. I delegated authority, all the freshmen got mad at me, Dorotea gothed the General, Emmy is pissed, and Darry is still shacked up in the clinic. So basically everything is normal. How's the hippie?"
"Oh, he's wonderful, of course," Dande gushed.
"Is that Dorotea, I must speak with her," Ellie heard the mostly dead master ask. Dande hushed him and returned to the line.
"Well, actually I was calling about Darry. She wanted me to ask you who SP is?" Ellie questioned.
"Oh, I mustn't talk about him or his padawan here in front of my hippie man. Tell her I'll contact her later."
"You got it." Ellie hung up the phone and pulled out her list.
Okay...
6) Next food order.
Ah, she'd taken care of that back at #2.
That was everything on Darry's list.
It definitely felt different doing most of the work yourself. Whew. She really was tired.
She'd go take a nap.
