"Excuse me for a moment," Dorotea asked the Nurse in an almost polite manner, tapping her shoulder.

"Can't you see I'm on the phone!" The Nurse exclaimed.

"Are you talking to Cic? Stupid question, of course you are. Let me talk to him for a minute."

"Just a sec, honey," Darry said sweetly into the phone, then covering the mouthpiece she roared at the Librarian, "I DON'T THINK SO. HANDS OFF -- HE'S MINE!"

Dorotea rolled her eyes. "I just want him to give a phone to Pelham and show him how to use it. I'm lonely and Logan destroyed all the phones in the Library. Please? Remember, you don't have to listen to howling coming from the Library all night when we get back now. If you don't let me talk to Cic for a second, then I'll take Logan back just to spite you."

The Nurse doubted that but decided that letting the Librarian talk to Cic was better than having to listen her moan all the time. She reluctantly handed her phone to Dorotea. "You have 30 seconds, starting now," the Nurse said as she looked at her Rolex and began timing the Librarian.

"Cic, it's Dorotea, would you please take one of your extra cell phones next door to Pelham and show him how to use it? Yes, well just show him how to answer it and give me the number."

Dorotea pulled out a pen out of her shredded leather jacket and wrote the phone's number on her hand as Darry grabbed the phone out of the Librarian's hand. "Your time is up," she snapped at the Librarian. Darry immediately began gushing back into the phone to Cic as she walked out of the suite in the Four Seasons.

Dorotea sighed and began muttering to herself. "I hope this trial is over soon or this could get messy. The poor Ho's back on campus are going to be going crazy without the General and Darry's mood is not going to improve with time. Maybe I should just have Cal bring Cic and LP to Coruscant. No, that would be even messier when the Diva found us out."

Dorotea pulled her own cell phone out of her pocket and tried to make out the number she had scribbled on the back of her hand. She flipped the phone open and started pressing the number in. Nothing happened. She turned the phone over. The battery had mysteriously disappeared. "DARRY!" She screamed as she ran after the phone obssessed Nurse.

Cic handed the phone to LP. "When it starts making a ringing noise, you press this button here," Cic demonstrated. "Then you put it to your ear and begin to speak."

LP arched a brow. "Interesting. And then I will hear the sweet voice of my dear Lady Dorotea?"

Cic nodded and pulled out his own phone, pressing the speed dial for Darry as he exited the Library and returned to the Clinic.

LP sat down on the leather sofa in the Library and studied the phone. He begin pressing random buttons. "Dorotea loves me, Dorotea loves me not, Xanatos loves me, Xanatos loves me not."

Jen sat at the front of the Library, her feet up on the desk, reading Xanatos' copy of the Jedi Alumni News, eating Nutella out of the jar as she drew mustaches on all the photographs of the Council members. She glanced over at the British Lord, playing with the sleek Nokia cell phone. "Oh, brother," she said under her breath. "At least I don't have to worry about that furry mutant anymore."

The door to the Library opened and a tall, pale man dressed in solid black, with a tattoo on his right cheek, long strands of black hair hanging over the other side of his face, a black braid in the back and very puffy hair on top of his head walked in.

Jen took one look at him said, "You must be looking for the Librarian."

The man turned to Jen, his face an emotionless mask. "I am Kai, the last of the Brunnen-G."

"Whatever. She's not here."

"I will wait."

Jen looked at the man standing motionless. She waited for him to move to sit, but he didn't. "It could be a while. She's been sued by the Jedi Council. She's on Coruscant preparing for the trial."

"I'm dead. I don't have to be home by dinner. I will wait."

Jen shook her head, her Master had very strange taste in men. Jen shuddered, she could at least pick ones that were alive. She glanced at Kai warily. "So, what do you do?" She asked.

Kai lifted a brow and met Jen's gaze with an intense look. "For over 2000 years I was an assassin in the service of His Divine Shadow. I killed without mercy or thought."

Jen smiled weakly and jumped up. "Well, time for me to go. If you need anything, ask the guy in velvet over there," Jen said over her shoulder as she ran out of the Library, locking the door behind her.

Kai furrowed his brows slightly, his bottom lip jutting out into a slight pout. "I'm dead. I don't have any needs," he said, even though Jen was already gone.

Dorotea finally tracked down a battery for her cell phone (okay, lifted one from Darry's room) and dialed LP's number.

"Um, yes, m'lady?" LP answered.

Dorotea sighed. "Yes, it's me. I miss you, it's so nice to hear your voice. I want to come home."

"Yes, m'lady. I desire your return as well. I miss your sparkling eyes, your creamy ivory skin, your succulent ."

Pelham was so involved in his conversation with the Librarian, he didn't even notice the last of the Brunnen-G standing a few feet away. Waiting, motionless. Apparently, the dead are very patient.

The End
