Doug Harris'
MECCANO
& HORNBY
& Other Stuff..
As an aside - here's a version of the slightly effeminate American brochure of the same name..
And yet another I've just received dated November 1928 - just in time for the Christmas sales. No poster of this one yet, but I'll do one for anybody that asks; more pictures on a simlar theme are on the 'Meccano' page.
Welcome! These pages are set up primarily to show you my posters of some of the wonderful old artwork from Meccano, Hornby, Bassett-Lowke, and many other sources. The posters are generally computer enhanced to clean up faults and blemishes, bright and attractive for framing, decorating your house or hobby room, even just filing away in your collection. The site is still being set up, and will be continuously updated. Please bookmark this page now, and call back regularly for the latest posters.
The pages are graphic-intensive, so please allow time for the pictures to load - I think you will find it worthwhile. If Geocities stops loading before the pictures are complete, just hit 'Reload'.
They are mostly A3 size (420 x 297mm - 16.5 x 11.75in) printed on
high-grade Epson Photo Paper using genuine Epson Inks.
OK. So here I am with the Meccano Centennial Poster originally designed by Michael Adler, founder of the International Society of Meccanomen. The picture was taken by Michael at the New Zealand Centennial Convention in 2001. This is the copy I dedicated to him. There is another copy in the Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT) in Auckland.
This is a continuation of the series of Photographic posters which I did when I still had my own color print laboratory. I see these earlier prints regularly at Hornby and Meccano Exhibitions, and in Collectors' homes. I have never yet seen anyone wanting to sell their posters once they have acquired them!
I hope these new ones appeal to you. Epson are not helping at all, with their recent price increases. Any thoughts or help on ways which would enable me to obtain cheaper supplies from any country would be appreciated.
