Have you joined the Gregory DNA Project?????  A few years ago I convinced my younger brother to take a DNA test in order to compare our family's DNA with other Gregorys around the country.  I thought surely we would find a match and be able to trace our Edward Gregory back one step further.  So far that has not been the case.  Of all the Gregorys in the database project, he only matched one person......a person who knows less about the family tree than we do.  This has been a bit discouraging, but the hope is still there that one day my brother's DNA will match another Gregory that can trace his family back to Virginia and beyond.  So if you have not already joined the Gregory DNA Project, I encourage you to do so.  It's painless and fairly inexpensive......and who knows, you may be the one we are looking for! - M

For those of you who don't know me or have never visited my website, I began researching the Gregory family of Wayne County, KY in 1998.  Although always interested in my heritage, I was not bitten by the genealogy bug until that summer.

Both of my parents were Gregorys (distant cousins) so that is the surname I mainly focus my research on.

Evie > Emberson > Claiborn(Jr) > Claiborn(Sr) > Flemming(?) > Edward

Owsley > Jeff > William H. > Sidney(Sr) > Claiborn(Sr) > Flemming(?) > Edward

I have no positive proof, only family stories that make me believe we descend from Flemming Gregory, son of Edward who came to Wayne County c. 1804.  It is my hope that someday I will be able to prove this.

Anyone wishing to speculate on my theory, share helpful information, or just want to chat with me about my (our) ancestors....feel free to jump in.  I am looking for any information on Edward, Flemming, Claiborn, and/or Sidney Gregory and their descendants.  Pictures are always welcome!

So today I was insearch of the death date for my dad's Aunt Litha (Roberts) Burk.  Litha was the daughter of Enoch & Elizabeth Roberts.  She married Amp/Armp Burk abt 1889.

Litha appears in Wayne County's 1930 census and I have a photo of her taken abt 1934.  But search as I might, I can not find her death certificate nor a DOD.  I've searched for her under Burk, Burks, Burke.  Litha is buried in the Carl Kidd Cemetery, but her grave is marked with a fieldstone...no dates or name inscribed.

Any help with this would be appreciated. - M

Well...........today I am trying something new, a blog!  I barely know what that is, but here I am giving it a try.

So what is my blog all about?  It is my hope that this will be a place where I can chat with other 'Gregory' researchers about their ancestors from Kentucky.  Let's give it a go and see what happens!  - M
