We have the prettiest, cutest members anywhere!!! Look at these gorgeous faces!

As a fun activity for the beginning of Spring, the Victorian cats will have a...CAT SHOW! Since a large number are rescues and mixed breeds, they will not concentrate on breed standards. This will be an opportunity to present yourself to your pals and have fun too!

Sir Wally, our leader, a white odd eyed kitty.

The very first cat show was held in London in 1871 and the first cat association was formed in 1887 in Great Britain, called the National Cat Club of Great Britain.

Registering and showing cats is not limited to purebred cats alone, although these cats comprise the vast majority of show cats. Despite this, there are special considerations for household pets in certain associations.

Harrison Weir, father of all cat shows, was a great admirer of these cats. "The ordinary garden cat," he wrote, "has survived every kind of hardship. That he exists at all, is a tribute to his strength of character and endurance."

What about our cat show?

Entry is easy! Just tell us about yourself, your good traits, your beauty and perhaps a tidbit of your history if you know it. You may send a small picture of yourself if you wish.

We will NOT have a Grand Champion because all Victorian kitties are winners but we thought it would be fun if you nominated yourself for a special category....

Carolina Kitty

Carolina Kitty is a Tortie, about 2 years old, who arrived to the back yard with two kitty babies. She is small and, despite eating good, will always be a little cat. She was a bit hard to tame but she was caught and spayed. Her babies grew up to be Calli Victoria and Lady Midnight. She has an independent personality but allows pettings. CK, as she is known, could be "Super Mom" because she saw to it that she and her kiddies found good food and shelter.

Other categories

Most Spoiled (this will be all of us probably!)
Most likely to terrorize the family dog
Most likely to hog the lap

We will also have agility too...

Able to leap the highest
Most likely to knock everything off a shelf

SO...join our CAT SHOW! Let's see YOU in the show ring!

Meows Sir Wally,
I am what is best known as a Tuxedo kitty. I wear my beautiful shiny tuxedo everywhere I go. I spend most of my free time curled up in a ball on a table that sits in the front window. I love basking in the sun. When I go outside I like to jump the fence and go out and explore the neighborhood. My meowmie does not like this because I could get hurt but she knows that I will not fall in love and bring more homeless kitties into the world because I cannot be a father. I enjoy wrestling with my sister the Basset Hound and sometimes we like to bring meowmie little gifts from the back yard. She must not like live lizards because she always frowns when we give them to her. Well back to basking!

I am beautiful and sweet beyond words! I never assume an ungraceful position, awake or asleep, and at night I frequently wake my Meowmie by kissing her.

But since I take baths with both my humans every night, I must be the cleanest cat in the world. I sometimes get in the tub with one of them, but I always have to be toweled, my ears cleaned iwth a Q-tip, rubbed down with a clean t-shirt, and powder and deodorant applied. Then I have to be combed with Meowmie's comb.

I much prefer this mehod of bathing to cat spit.

meow sir wally,
I have attached a picture of myself for the Victorian Cat Society cat show and below mew will find a brief description...

My name is Lilith. I am the holly terror of the Mattox househould. Do not be dazzled my good looks, fur I am a savage hunter. Stalking and pouncing are some of my favfurite things to do. I attack all things...walls, moussie toys, spaghetti noodles, feet, and my sisfur Jezebel...just to name a few.

Yes, I am proud to say that I would be the most likely to terrorize the family dog if we had one. I really wouldn't mind if meowmie and paw picked one up. That way there would be one extra body fur me to practice my black ops.

I have evfuryone fooled into thinking that I am this precious little fluff ball. As mew can see I have the markings of a maine coon and the fur of a persian. My gray/black/white coat is long in the summer and short in the winter. My beautiful eyes will draw mew into my trap. I know that the reason why I get away with evfurything is because I am so cute.

purrs, lilith

My name is McGee. I am a red/yellow tabby and proud of it. I am an indoor cat and I am furry catsome. I like to curl up with Meowmie on the couch and be petted. She calls me her handsome "Big Guy" because I am very heavy. I was adopted from MHS in Melrose, MA and have settled into my new home and routine very well. I share my new home with two female cats named Shirley and Sophie. We just love sitting on the sunporch to watch the birds.

My name is Shirley and I am a calico. Meowmie says that I am furry pretty. I was adopted from MHS with my sister Sophie and brother McGee. I like climbing on high places. I am a very high energy cat and I like to scatter the hallway runners. I like to run out to the sunporch every morning to watch Meowmie throw out unshelled peanuts for the birds and squirrels. I try to have access to every window sill in the house to see what is happening outdoors.

My name is Sophie and I am a furry beautiful Tortie. I was sponsored by my late brother Lloyd when I lived at the MHS in Melrose. Meowmie and Deowdie call me a lady because I sit very elegant when I watch what is happening in my household. I like to take naps in Grandmeowmie's chair. She does not know that I am using her chair because she is wintering in Florida. Meowmie has a special chair for Grandmeowmie for when she visits. She will have to share her chair with me because I like it very much. I also like to sit on the tin top table on the sunporch to watch the birds at the feeders. I like to play with McGee. As for my sister Shirley, she is a pest!

Meow Moew,
Mew wanted to send in her picfur too. I am a LHD, but I prefur to be called a long hair tux lady. I am very proud of my markings, when I smile and Meow, which I do quite frequently, I even have a charming black tooth amoung my pretty white teeth.

I do think that also matches my markings, as well as making me unique. Of course, we all our unique and furry special in our own ways. I am not quite sure about this hat, howeffur, but it will have to do for now.

SHIBUI

I am a Seal Point Siamese with sapphire blue eyes. Although I am almost sixteen years old, I am young at heart and still very agile. I live on a small ranch in Wise County, Texas, with four other cats, a dog, and two humans. Our house is in the middle of an acre of land that is fenced off from the cattle pastures. Depending on my mood and weather conditions, I either choose to stay inside or go outdoors. Although I like to stay near the hearth when there is a fire in the fireplace, my favorite indoor room is the front bedroom. A big picture window provides an excellent view of the birdbath and feeder. When I tire of birdwatching, I curl up on Meowmie's antique chaise lounge and take a cat nap. None of my siblings are allowed to disturb me when I am in this bedroom.

I may give the impression that I'm proud and sophisticated, but I'm really a very down-to-earth kitty. In fact, nothing makes me feel better than rolling in a soft patch of warm dirt! I also enjoy climbing trees, hunting, and supervising my meowmie's gardening activities. She took this photograph of me in our orchard on a summer day.

Meowmie says that I'm as unpredictable as Texas weather. My dad claims that I'm the smartest cat he's ever known. If I were in a cat show, I would vie for the title "Most Independent Cat."

SMOKEY GIRL

Smokey Girl is presented as a guest kitty

I am a solid black shorthair kitty with golden eyes. Even my whiskers are black. My home is located out in the country in North Texas, not too far from my dear furriend Shibui. However, she shares her home with lots of kitties and a d*g, too! But I've got this place to myself, with the humans to take care of my requests. Shibui and I share the love of rolling in soft, warm dirt. There is something about this Texas soil that is impossible to resist.

I was rescued from the city streets when I was young and have lived here ever since. At nine years of age, I can't imagine any other life. I prefur to sleep in the barn, which has a pet door just fur me. Thankfully, I rarely have guests who can figure out the door, so it is a peaceful retreat. I will come into the house to check my email and visit with the humans, but I'm usually in or around the barn. The humans would love for me to spend more time in the house, and purrhaps I will in my senior years, but fur now I am quite content.

I am not very vocal and have the humans trained to open doors with just a mew. In the house I don't jump on anything or scratch the furniture. I always divide my attention between both humans so neither feels left out. I'm always on my best behavior and have never been scolded in my life. If I were in a cat show, I would be awarded "Most Polite".

Dear Sir Wally,
My Wink Wink, Zena and I decided to submit each other's entry to the cat show. We hope dat is all right. So here is Zena:
Zena is a beautiful, silver tabby with white. She is 4 (?) years old, and is quite petite. She had a litter of kittens when she was only 7 months old, and was dropped off at the vet's office. The kindly vet then encouraged Zena's now-Meowmie Nancy to adopt Zena. At the time, Nancy was grieving for the loss of her beloved Bo. Zena enjoys catnip, her special Sunday night treat of Fancy Feast, and her furry-ball-on-a-spring toy that her Meowmie sticks in the couch cushion. She has two sisfurs, Scraps and Neek, who share her home and she was recently wedwinked to the Historical/Victorian Cat Society's very own Stan. Zena enjoys giving Nancy nose kisses and being petted and is a very sweet little girl! Submitted by Stan.

Mew Sir Wally
Okay I have my entry for the Cat Show.

I am doing the entry for my wed-wink Stan since we thought it nice to do each other!

Stan is a brown tabby with white paws and the sweetest face you have ever seen. He was adopted by his Mommy and Daddy in March of 1999 from "Homes for Endangered and Lost Pets"--called H.E.L.P. for short. In fact his Mommy is now president of that organization. Due to some problems with his tail he now only has a stump but that just adds to his character! Stan just had his 6th birthday in March and gets more catsome with each year! He lives with his other feline sisfur siblings Lucille and Samantha and brofurs Daniel and Benjamin. He also lives with his doggies sisfur Zoie. Stan has a gentle, loving nature and all his sisfurs and brofurs love him and even Zoie! Stan loves the birds and actually "chirps" at them. Catnip is his favorite and he can sniff it out even if it is packed in a box! He also is known for waking his Mommy up in the morning doing "push, push!" Stan was wed-winked this past Valentine's Day to Historical/Victorian Cat Society's Zena. The pictures attached will show Stan's talent of ribbon dancing and a close-up of his catsome face in our picture.

Miou, Miou, Sir Wally,
In May of 1986, when we were seven weeks old, we littermates were left at the Montgomery County, Maryland, Humane Society where we lived for a week waiting for an easily trained meowmie to adopt us. Finally we saw one who would follow our every command.

We are indoor cats - outdoor cats don't live long around here; besides, there's rabies in the area - so Meowmie built things for us to climb and explore. Of course, we found our own. Our favorite thing to climb is up Meowmie's clothes in the closet. Our favorite time to explore is during the night so that we can knock things over and wake Meowmie.

The furniture has all been shredded, of course, and several lamps and vases broken during the years as we've tried to make our home more interesting looking.

The best category for us, caturally, is Most Wicked. Our picture is attached.

The Wicked Twins (Dwnn and Taliesin)

Sir Wally,
I, Blessed, must dispute your comment about being the only odd eye kitty! I myself have one yellow eye and one blue eye. So that means we are twins indeed!! hehe! I always likes you for some reason and now we know why is because you and I have the same oddeye regiment on our side!! Well, I am enclosing some pictures of my brothers and sister if you could help us get all fixed up for the gallery we would appreciate your wonderful assistance! Your odd eye regiment furriend!

Blessed

From Rambley-Bambley....

Here is my pictfur with my beloved brofur and littermate, Tiger Magnificat. If I had to pick a category, I would say we are the Luckiest Cats in the world. Tiger M, Miss Snow-on-Paws, Yoda, Kawaii and I were all born in our mewmie's laundry room, on March 11th, 1991. Mewmie immediately picked Miss Snow, me and Tiger out of the litter. SO mew could say we have all been loved from the moment we were born. Mewmie's sisfur picked Yoda, and she now lives with our auntie Rachel. Mewmie's furriend picked Kawaii, and she now lives in Virginia with her furmily. Yes, incredibly, all five of us are still alive and healthy, and we just celebrated our 11th Purrday. Not only did I have all of my litter mates with me fur many years, but I also had my Furmom, Pupa Muma Aamose, my furdad, Papa Grey, and my brofurs and sisfurs from Pupa's first and third litter. My furmom Pupa is still with us, and is an active memfur of the Older Cats Society. She will be 13 in June. My younger brofur, Petsy Boo just recently joined Cats Worldwide. He is the only one left of the third litter, as most of them were not very healthy.

Mewmie has always said that I am her prettiest kitty, even though I am just a plain grey tabby cat. She thinks I am lovely with my green eyes, and perfectly shaped cat face. As mew can see, my brofur Tiger M has amber colored eyes. We are all furry happy kitties.

Hugs and Purrs, Rambley-Bambley Hatshepsut Milliken

Mew Mew Sir Wally,

My name is Samantha but everyone calls me either Sam or Sammi, except meowmie, she calls me Silly Sam sometimes. I'm a 8 month old, chocolate point Traditional (Applehead) Siamese.

I'm a very active kitten, meowmie says keeping up with me is like keeping up with a 2 year old human. I get into everything and think of everything that I can get ahold of as a toy. Meowmie says that I'm to smart for my own good sometimes. I like to play with Bubba and Tabitha. Tabitha and I play the most. I also love to eat and take naps in the sink. When I'm not playing, I love to be held and to cuddle.

The phrase that is most said in our house is "Sam no!". Meowmie says I'm a sweetheart.
Kitten Purrs, Sam

Meow Sir Wally,
My name is Bubba. I'm a 13 year old gray tabby cat with green eyes. I have only 1 ear because this time last year I had cancer and my ear had to be removed. Luckily they got all the cancer and I think only have one ear gives me more charecter. I'm an indoor cat.

Although I'm an older kitty, I still like to play chase with my sisters, play with my laser light and jump sometimes although I'm usually laying on the cable box keeping watch over our house, humans and little sisters. When I was a younger guy, I used to jump from the floor to on top of the door and just hang around on top of the door. Sometimes I still do that, just not as much. My favorite human foods are potato chips and Ritz crackers

Purrs, Bubba

Mew Mew Sir Wally,

I'm a 2 year old, black and brown tabby kitty, hence my name Tabitha, with big green eyes. I was rescued from a sewer when I was a baby and was called "unadoptable" because I wasn't socialized. Meowmie talked the shelter lady into adopting me and has socialized me. I used to be scared of everything but am not only scared of being picked up, but meowmie's teaching me that its ok to be held.

I guess the best thing I've done in my 2 years is to donate blood to my big sister Jazzy when she needed blood, although I hated the trip to the v*t. My sister went to the Rainbow Bridge but it makes me feel good to know that I was able to help make my sister better.

I like to play with my brother Bubba and little sister Sam. Sam and I wrestle alot then groom each other. I like to watch everything that goes on in my house and I like to lay on the kitty tree and look out the window. On July 4, I'm getting wedwinked to Servo so I'm attaching a picture of both of us

Purrs, Tabitha

The Wright Cats are a mix of strays and ferals, some who arrived as "front porch" cats and a couple we adopted from friends who could not keep them. Calli, Silvermyst, Cheyenne and Lady Midnight have lived with us all their lives, although none were born here. Silver and Cheyenne were adopted from the vet after being abandoned there. Casper and Palomino were "front porch moochers".

We also have Tripod, who has 3 legs; Jesse James and Chinook (our youngest) and Stormi, who was buried in a dumpster. Those 4 are not in CLAW. Jesse and Chinook were born at a friend's house after she took in their feral calico mummy.
