When Toronto-born actor Hayden Christensen touches down in
Australia in the coming weeks, he'll begin some intensive training in the Jedi ways, to prepare for his work as Anakin in the upcoming "Star Wars" sequel.
In a message at the official "Star Wars" website, producer Rick
McCallum says Christensen's screen test has torqued the production.
"Everyone's excited because I show them some of the screen test. He's really an unknown. I think the casting sends the signal that we're living by our word and that we are anxiously working to deliver something new with this film," McCallum said at the site.
But Christensen won't have time to revel in his status.
"As soon as he gets off the plane we'll be handing him over to Nick Gillard for Jedi training," McCallum said.
"Plus hair, wardrobe, makeup. he'll be flat out form the minute he gets her until shooting."
Gillard has also been haunting Sydney boxing clubs in search of
talented extras to hire as stunt fighters for the film, which would suggest the as-yet-untitled "Episode II' will feature some epic battles.
