Shelby are washing dishes, Scott is giving her the cold shoulder; She explains her past to him (running away from home to a life of prostitution), but he can't understand why she would resort to something like prostitution when there are shelters everywhere.

Peter and Sophie decide that the cliffhangers are ready for their solos. Peter along with Sophie lead the gang which consist of Auggie, Juliet, Daisy, Scott, and Shelby. Ezra and Kat had already taken their solo, so they were allowed to stay back. The purpose of the three days solo trip in the woods was basically to give them all time to think about their past, present, and future. Packed and ready to go Peter's dad decides to pay him a surprise visit. His dad insists that Peter continue his plans with the trip while he spends his time at Horizon until Peter comes back

Each student is dropped off in a separate location in the woods. During the solo Scott goes to visit Shelby, trying to figure out why she was so mad at him. Not understanding the situation, Scott further questions Shelby about her past making her more upset with him than she already was. The only words she wanted to hear coming from his mouth were the words, “sorry.” Yet he didn't why he should so, he didn't. She thus tells him to leave her alone.

Meanwhile, the rest of the cliffhangers begin to confront their past. Back at Horizon Kat and Ezra begin to bond with Peter's dad, but suddenly finds him in pain when he falls to the ground due to a heart attack Peter is contacted about the situation just as a big storm was announced coming towards their direction. As Peter rushes back to be with his father, Sophie has to round up all the Cliffhangers up before the storm hits. It begins to be very dark and Sophie has managed to round up each and everyone besides Shelby. Sophie goes back into the storm in search of Shelby while the rest of the gang wait. While in the cabin Daisy gets in a fight with Scott which leads him to take the initiative to go out into the storm and look for Shelby himself. After a tough time hiking back to Horizon, Peter just reaches his father in time to see him Scott is in the woods battling the storm trying to find Shelby. He almost gives up but just before that, Shelby appears from some trees. He takes her back to the cabin and they try and get her warm. In the end Scott says he is sorry to Shelby, and Peter's father dies.
