Morality Journal Entry

1)During our assignments on the Sermon on the Mount -the initial questions, the reading of the sermon, marking my initial answers as moral and Christian, and doing the outline- I discovered that it is easier to be moral than to be Christian . I had one Christian response, four questionable responses, and two non-Christian responses, whereas I had one moral response, and seven questionable responses. This questionnaire showed that I have a lot of work to do in order to become more of a moral and Christian person.

2)The first thing that I want to remember from this section is the video we saw about Randy Pausch. I was amazed at how happy Randy was despite knowing that he probably had less than six months to live. I especially want to remember his three words of advice, "Tell the truth", "all the time." Randy's life is an inspiration for all people, and his advice, though difficult, should be strived for.

3)The second thing that I want to remember from this section is the story we heard about Julio Diaz on StoryCorps. Diaz invited a troubled teen to dinner, who had just previously tried to mug him. Diaz made an impact on this kid's life by showing him how a Christian is supposed to act. I finally understood Jesus' message of turning the other cheek, when I heard this story and how he reacted to being mugged.

4)What does it mean to be a Christian?

My answer two weeks ago to this question would have been to follow Jesus. Although this answer is not wrong, I can now expand it to, follow Jesus, and strive to follow his teachings, such as the Beatitudes, or his stance on anger, and your enemies.
