Niagara Falls

The Niagara River flows right on the border of the United States and Canada. It is located between the state of New York and the province of Ontario. There are two falls on the river: Horseshoe Falls, which is on the Canadian side, and American Falls, which is on the United States side. When I was about ten years old, during a trip to Canada, my family decided to take a break at Niagara Falls, so we could see them. Until then, I had never seen a waterfall of that magnitude. I can remember just seeing the river behind it, and being amazed at how fast it was going, and how much water was moving. I could imagine throwing a stick in it and watch it get rushed to the bottom of the falls. The sheer immensity of the falls astounded me because there was not only a huge drop, but it curved all the way around a cliff for a long way. Also, the sound of the water rushing past and hitting the water at the bottom of the falls was overwhelming. This experience was one the most awe-inspiring experiences I have ever had.
