Jack Tripper is the man around the house. At the beginning of the show, Jack is studying to be a chef. A few years later, he graduates at the top of his class at cooking school, and a few more years later, he gets his own restaurant. He cooks the meals for the girls and likes to go down to the Regal Beagle to relax and/or to meet some girls for dates along with his best friend and partner in crime, Larry Dallas. Jack is like an older brother to the girls and always stands by their side whenever they need him. He always manages to trip and tumble over things...no wonder his name is Jack Tripper. Jack needs to pretend to be gay  in front of Mr. Roper and later Mr. Furley to keep living in the apartment with two girls. As much as Jack loves a good joke, he has a sensitive side when it comes to his roommates.
