32. Double Date Jack and Larry are talking about a girl Jack likes named Samantha. He asked her out on a date and thinks everything will be perfect, except when his girlfriend Linda calls! He made a date with her for the same night! Then, Larry thinks of a solution. He tells Jack to tell Linda he is sick, which is exactly what Jack does. He thinks he's safe for the night, but Jack also needs to get Janet and Chrissy out of the apartment. Janet and Chrissy both offer to take care of Jack, since he told them he was sick. But, he eventually gets them both out. Then, Samantha comes over and Jack thinks everything will be great. Then, Janet and Chrissy both come home at different times, since they couldn't concentrate on anything while thinking of sick Jack. Then, LINDA COMES OVER with chicken soup to help Jack. Jack tries to think of something quickly to explain Samantha, so he says she is "the Avon lady." Linda then pours the chicken soup over Jack's head, and Jack becomes sick for real! 33. Good Old Reliable Janet Jack comes home exhausted from running and explains to Janet and Chrissy that their local beach has turned into a nude beach! Then, Larry comes over and invites the three of them out to eat. But, Janet explains that they have to stay home and open the door for the repairman. Jack and Chrissy decide that Janet won't mind doing that since she's so dependable, and they leave her at home. Janet becomes very offended and goes down to the Ropers apartment. She talks to Helen about how she feels so neglected, and Helen says she is feeling the same way. Then, the two of them decide to go down to the nude beach! Later, the police come to the nude beach and Janet and Helen run home in the nude and hide behind the bushes. When they get home, Chrissy tells Janet she admires her bravery since she actually went to the nude beach herself. AIRDATE: September 19, 1978 |

34. The Love Diary Chrissy gets a job typing a diary for a mysterious person named "Wanda X." This person left Chrissy a manuscript of her diary and Chrissy never met the person before. As Jack and Chrissy read it, they discover many things about Wanda's life, such as all the different men in her life and also that she is secretly in love with the older man who lives in the apartment beneath her. Then, Mr. Roper comes upstairs to shampoo their carpet. When Chrissy and Jack leave the room, Stanley sees the diary. He opens it up to the part about the man who lives beneath, and he thinks it is Chrissy's diary and HE is the man! He reads that Chrissy is "yearning, yearning, yearning" for his affection, so he decides to give her what she wants before she tries anything herself. When Stanley tells this to Helen, all she can do is laugh. When Stanley goes down to the apartment later, he gives Chrissy a gentle brush against the shoulder and a knowing wink, which is what Wanda X said she wanted. Chrissy doesn't know what's going on and thinks Stanley is hitting on her. Jack, Janet, and Chrissy look out the kitchen door and see the Ropers reading the diary and then they understand. Chrissy tells Mr. Roper it is not her diary and its not Janet's or Jack's. Soon the misunderstanding is cleared up. In the tag scene of this episode, Jack wants to meet Wanda X, who is in the bathroom in the apartment picking up the typed work. In the end, Wanda X turns out to be a man and Wanda X is his pen name! 35. The Fast While Jack is out, a woman named Grace Thompson visits and talks to Janet. She says to tell Jack she is in town and he knows what hotel she is staying in. After she leaves, Chrissy comes out of the kitchen eating the peaches they were supposed to have for dinner. Then, Jack comes home and Janet tries to explain about Grace, but Jack sees that Chrissy has eaten the peaches and becomes angry. Then, the whole arguement about willpower starts. Jack thinks men have more willpower than women, so Janet arranges a bet. She bets Jack that Chrissy can last without food longer than he can last without women. Chrissy suffers horribly from this since she eats so much, and Jack tries his hardest to avoid Grace when she comes over. In the end, Grace comes over again and Jack just can't take it anymore and tells Chrissy that she can eat her favorite dessert, choclate cake, at the same time Jack tries something with Grace. Janet is very determined to make Chrissy win, so she prevents her from eating the cake. Jack kisses Grace before Chrissy eats the cake and Jack wins the bet, but Grace is furious that it took him so long and she leaves. AIRDATE: October 5, 1978 |

36. Helen's Rendevous Stanley comes home from bowling very angry because he played against his best friend Jerry Gordon, and the deal was that the loser had to buy the winner the beer. But, Jerry didn't and Stanley gets very mad. It gets to the point where he doesn't want to speak to him anymore, so Helen tries to get the two of them to make up. When Jack and Chrissy go to the Regal Beagle, they hear Helen on the phone with Jerry and they misunderstand her conversation. They hear her say things about going into 201 since its empty and Stanley won't find out, so they decide to follow her there. While Helen and Jerry are alone, Jerry thinks Helen likes him and that's the REAL reason she wants to be alone with him. Then, the trio comes home and Helen and Jerry hide in the bathroom and try to explain everything. While everyone is talking in the bathroom, Stanley comes in to fix the broken window! Jack tries to get Helen and Jerry out, and after a few tries is successful. Then, Stanley sees Helen and soon, Jerry comes crawling in. Stanley then decides to forgive Jerry because he got what he wanted, to see Jerry come crawling back on his hands and knees. AIRDATE: October 10, 1978 |

37. My Sister's Keeper Janet's younger sister, Jenny Wood, comes to visit. Jack offers to show Jenny around the area and Janet becomes a little worried. Jack tells Janet not to worry and that he won't try anything on her. Jack isn't feeling too well that night and takes medicine. He then feels sleepy and when he wanders into the kitchen for a glass of water, he goes into his own bed by force of habit, which is where JENNY is sleeping! Then, Janet walks in and automatically assumes the worst. She becomes very angry and Jack and doesn't even let him explain. Jenny also gets mad because she is tired of Janet treating her like a little girl. Janet still is mad at Jack until Chrissy takes Janet into the kitchen and tells her that just because she saw something doesn't mean that is neccessarily what happened. So then, everything is straightened out and everyone is happy. AIRDATE: October 17, 1978 |

39. Larry's Bride Larry comes over to the apartment and tells the trio that he is now engaged to a girl he just met named Gloria. Larry brings Gloria over to Apartment 201 later that night to meet Jack, Janet, and Chrissy. While Jack and Gloria are in the kitchen together, Gloria explains to Jack that they went to high school together, but back then she was fat and had glasses. Gloria admits she had a huge crush on Jack back then.....and she that she still does! Then, when Larry and Gloria plan to get married in the Ropers apartment, Gloria leaves Larry, since she was never serious about him, and Larry moves on with his life too. AIRDATE: October 31, 1978 |

40. Chrissy's New Boss Chrissy comes home from work very sad that she can't get a promotion. She tells Jack and Janet that she is going to try to be more aggressive and will try to get people at work to notice her more. Later, she comes home in a low-cut dress saying that she is now the secretary of J.C. Braddock. Jack and Janet think that Chrissy was only hired because she exposed herself so much. They become shocked when Chrissy tells them she will be going on an overnight business trip to Las Vegas with J.C. But what Jack and Janet don't know is that J.C Braddock is a female! When Chrissy and J.C. are at the Regal Beagle, Jim the bartender introduces Chrissy to his uncle, Chef Anton. He said that his uncle could get a Jack a good job as a chef. Chrissy starts talking to Chef Anton, when suddenly Jack and Janet come in. They see Chrissy with Chef Anton and think that he is J.C. So, Jack dumps a drink over Chef Anton's head!
