What is Critical Mass?
Critical Mass is a monthly bike ride where cyclists come together and claim our
space on the streets. We are not protesting; we are celebrating by
riding together and enjoying ourselves. We are also demonstrating
that bicycle is a valid way of getting around.
We have cars here in LA. Why bike?
-
Have you noticed that our air is almost always polluted with smog from
cars we drive? If we all start to ride our bicycles just for short
commutes, imagine how much gas and pollution that we can reduce.
-
Aren't you stuck in traffic jams twice daily? Many bicyclists can
testify that they can commute to work faster on their bicycles during the
traffic hours then they can driving! Try it, maybe you can save 10-15
minutes!
-
Bicycling is one of the great low impact aerobic exercise. Hey if
you are spending one hour daily in the traffic sitting in your car, why
not instead ride your bicycle and spend an hour working-out!
-
Last but most important of all: It's FUN!!!!!
Want to get more involved with bicycle conditions in Los Angeles County?
Become a member of LACBC (LA County Bicycle Coalition)! Visit the web site.
(Please note that the LACBC does not sponsor or have any official link with CM, but many LA cyclists participate in both LACBC and CM.)
