Adjusting the Ba Gua
A compass reading taken on the Southern hemisphere, just as well as on the
Northern hemisphere measures the earth magnetic field.
Feng Shui Flying Star charts are based on the magnetic reading of
the compass.
A compass measures earth magnetic field, rather than the sun pattern,
climatic realities or seasons.
Soon the Australian teacher Roger Green took it upon him to study this
supposed difference between hemispheres and – based on the apparent
climatic and seasonal differences – adjusted the Ba Gua to match the
seasons on the Southern hemisphere.
Based on the idea of the waxing and waning of the seasons, he came up with
a sophisticated program, including:
-
Ba Gua altered to match seasonal realities on the Southern
hemisphere.
-
Adjusting the Nine Star Ki year to start on 6 or 7 August of any year for
the Southern hemisphere. The reasoning being that a year should start at
‘Spring Begins’, which is in August for the Southern hemisphere.
-
Adjusting the cycle of 60 Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches for the
Southern hemisphere so that there may be a difference of five years
between a Rat year on both hemispheres. 1960 and Rat for the Northern
hemisphere, would then make a person born on the Southern hemisphere a
Sheep (1955).
-
Where Rat is on the Chinese compass seen from the Northern hemisphere, we
now find Horse.
-
Traditionally the Earthly Branches – Chinese animals – proceed clockwise
over the Chinese compass. Roger Green’s compass shows an anticlockwise
motion.
Without any reference to the earth magnetic field he points out which
energies are shown in the Ba Gua:
“It represents the eight primordial trigrams, arranged as a mandala to
map the energetic qualities of the seasons, colours, directions, life
situations and many other associations”.
A Nine Star Ki year starts when the sun reaches 15 degrees Aquarius.
The sun reaches 15 degrees Aquarius in both hemispheres on 3, 4 or
5 February of any year.
We cannot decide to start a Nine Star Ki year when the sun reaches 15
degrees Leo, just because we live on the Southern hemisphere.
The apparent reasoning is that in Chinese texts it is stated that a year
is defined to start at ‘Li Chun’, or ‘The Coming of Spring’. Spring here
was just meant relative to the Northern hemisphere, as more than Spring, a
year is defined to start in the Wood months.
Wood months being February, March and April for both hemispheres, because
Wood will be at its prime during these months around the globe, due to
earth energy surfacing around this time.
I have the fortunate to be living in the Netherlands where many people
from the Southern hemisphere live, for whom I had the opportunity to do
many Nine Star Ki and Four Pillars of Destiny fate readings since 1994.
Each time I work with a client born on the Southern hemisphere I ask this
client to reflect on two Nine Star Ki Numbers and two Chinese animal signs
for a while in the privacy of their homes, but they all come back to me
saying that they do not recognize their temperament as shown by the
Southern signs.
I will not base my observations on the findings of these clients who of
course are mostly beginners in these fields of studies, nevertheless I go
through this process.
I will just research their life histories and will examine what they tell
me using two ways of looking at the Nine Star Ki magic squares, or
building two Four Pillars charts, one for either hemisphere.
I have never once found ground for a difference between both hemispheres.
Then, I was fortunate enough to do many Four Pillars of Destiny Life
Readings in Brazil, all for people who had their readings done before. I
thought I was able to do a reading, but I have never seen the feedback I
saw in these people, as finally their lives fell into place. I have seen
many charts having been done completely wrong, which can be disastrous if
you understand the dynamic of ‘Useful God’ and ‘Annoying God’ and what may
happen when the assessments are done wrong.
