Otis Cousins' Genealogy Letter

                                          Easton, Mass.
                                          March 2, 1908
Cousin Charles,

Yours received and intended to have answered it before.
I am sorry you have been sick. My health has been good. The
unexpected death of my wife has left me in an uncertain state.
I don't know what I shall do yet.
Are you living in Stonington with your daughter? What is
her name? We had a card but I can't find it now.
What is your daughter's name who lives in Auburn? I am
25 miles from Boston, the same from Providence. Have a house
of 8 rooms, barn, and 2 acres of land, 44 apple trees, grapes,
beans, etc. I have been raising chickens the past 8 years.
I don't think you know much about your ancestors, so I
send you some information. I am now trying to find out the
Cousins in Wells, Maine. I want to find out about the parents
of the first Elisher who was born in Wells. There was an Isaac
Cousins killed by Indians in Wells in Dec. 1675 that shows the
name. I think the original came over before the Pilgrims came.
Did your father ever tell any story that he might have got from
his grandfather?
He must have been quite a young man before his grandfather's
death, and as you were always with your father he might have told
you something. My mother always said the Cousins claimed to come
from the French, but the evidence so far proves they were English.
If you remember any stories have your daughter write them for me,
anything may put me on the right track.
I have left a place for you to write in your family history
if you care to.

                                             Yours,
                                             Otis
