NOTES of B.Lake Noyes re: AIKINS, Lincoln James (& Marion Cousins)

LINCOLN JAMES AIKINS, b.South Windham Me., Dec. 2, 1898, was son of James Edward Aikins, b. in Alymer, Ontario, Canada, Aug 23, 1855 and Cora Harlow, b. in Kansas City, Missouri, June 2(6?) 186(4?), the daughter of a minister who preached at Cape Elizabeth--unless, they meant it was Lincoln's father who preached there, as he was a minister in Maine.

Lincoln came to Stonington as a High School Teacher, being on service in the High School of Stonington 1921 and thereabouts. Here he made the acquaintance of, and begin courting, Marion Emily Cousins, dau. of Charles Lyman & Susie (Fifield) Cousins. Marion was b.in Stonington, an instrumentally 9 pound baby (OLA), Sept. 18, 1905. Her mother, Susie Emily, b.in West Stonington March 29, 1882, being a dau. of John Whitmore and Mary Antionette (Hosmer) Fifield. See Cousins Sect.

Lincoln is a fellow of unimpeachable integrity, bears a fine reputation wherever he goes, and after leaving Stonington, was in Windham, Me., or vicinity where Marion went to continue her studies or teach a chool. There they continued their acquaintanceship and finally were married at Windham, Aug. 23, 1925, by the father, Rev. James, on his birthday.

They make Stonington an Annual visit to see her folks and they are presently (Aug. 23, 1931) visiting here from their home in Billings, Montana, travelling the distance by auto.
