NOTES: From Ancient North Yarmouth and Yarmouth, Maine 1636-1936 by Rowe Page 80: ...The Present Lane family is descended from the pioneer James through his eldest son John who married Dorcas, the daughter of John Wallis of Purpooduck and who was driven from Falmouth by the Indians in King William's War and settled in Gloucester, Massachusetts.

Page 42: Re Andros Grant...Amoung those in North Yarmouth who sought and were granted these land warrents in 1687 and 1688 were John Royall, Bartholomew Gedney, Nathaniel Wallis, Walter Gendall, John Swarton, John Holman, John, Henry, Samuel and Job Lane, and William Gilbert.
