The circus...good or bad??
As always when the circus comes to town, we always make sure
that we are one of the first to buy tickets.
Well...this year was no different. BUT....each year the circus
seems to get smaller and smaller!
Let me tell ya...this was something like "Bob's" circus or something.
The lady that ran the concession stand also did the horse show.
The man that took tickets for pony rides was a tumbler.
The woman that ran the toy stand was a dancer..and so on.
This had to be the worst circus I had ever been to.
My kids were totally bored within the first 5 minutes.
Give ya an idea of what we saw......
The first act was done by one of the ticket takers.
This guy comes out with Peacocks...very noisy Peacocks...
that obviously had no training. The guy sits them on a bar
and spins it and expects an applause?? I don't think so.
My 2 yr old actually booed this guy!!
Next we have one of the one of the tumblers that does more
falling than anything. Granted she was a younger girl and I'm
sure she was trying her hardest and was nervous and all
but I paid money to see someone falling on their butt??
I could have stayed home and let my 2 and 3 yr old amuse
me like that for free!
Next comes the lady that ran the concession stand with her horses.
Granted the horses are very pretty. The girls are oohing and ahhing.
The horses do thier circles and one get out of line...and the
woman has the audacity to actually smack the horse and tell
it that it was a "bad horse". I was seeing red by then!
I was wondering how she'd feel if I were to smack her and
tell her in front of everyone just how cheesy this circus was!
Well...we are about 20 minutes into the show and Trista canno
cannot sit any longer! She is so bored she is actually asking
to go home. I say..."wait just a minute honey...I think the clowns
are coming out now".
And oh boy did they! Two clowns.....who by the way did not make
anyone there laugh! My girls didn't even crack a smile.
OK...we are in intermission now and I'm thinking that maybe
it would be best just to go ahead and take the girls home
and call it a night but Kaley wanted to stay so we went back in.
The second half was about as exciting as the first half.
Except the camel act.
The ticket guy brought out 2 camels and 2 llamas. And WHOA...
I'm still trying to figure out what they had those camels on.
Those things were acting totally crazy! They would walk normally
for 20 seconds and then all of the sudden start running around jumping up and down like they were mad!
At that point I seriously considered leaving the building
and from the looks on others faces I was not the only one.
The guy that was handling the camels had a confused look on
his face like he didn't know what was going on and was staying
as far back from them as possible. The helpers were actually
laughing at them when they were clearly out of control.
Finally the camels are settled down and are taken out of the ring.
I'm sitting there wondering why I'm still sitting there.
I'm totally dumbfounded by this so called "circus".
My kids are looking at me like I'm wierd...like they are saying
I can't believe you thought we would have fun watching this stuff.
Finally....the show ends.....and with all 200 or so people there
you can almost here a pin drop. The circus people are looking
at us like we are a bunch of headless pigs and ya know what??
I didn't care! As far as I was concerned my 2 yr old could
have started booing right then and there and I would have
applauded her...heck..I would have gave her a standing ovation!
Believe me....not only will I never take my kids to the circus
by myself...but I will never visit that one when it rolls
into town again!
I could throw a party in my backyard...charge a few bucks for
admission...and be dunked in a dunking machine all night and have more fun!
Hey...ya know what....I have my own 3 ring circus.
I don't need to pay to see one! *L*
