Come
on into our kitchen, I hope you see a recipe you like. I am
sharing
some of our families favorite recipes that we use mainly
around
the holiday season.

BLACKBERRY WINE CAKE
This cake is always cooked by my husband's brother, Bill. It is
wonderful!
1 box Duncan Hines white cake mix
4 eggs
1 cup Manischewitz blackberry wine
1 box blackberry Jello
1 cup oil
Mix cake mix with Jello. Add eggs, oil
and wine; mix well. Bake at 325 degrees for 40-45 minutes in a greased and floured bundt pan. When cake is done, mix 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar and 1/2 cup
blackberry wine. Pour over hot cake as soon as it comes out of the oven. Leave in pan 15 minutes.
Take out and cool.

SWEET POTATO PUDDING
This is a family favorite. We look forward to this at Thanksgiving and
Christmas. My husband likes to add raisins, but some of the family don't like it that way.
2 cups sweet milk
3 cups grated raw sweet potatoes (put potatoes in milk as you grate them so they will not
turn dark)
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup melted butter
4 eggs beaten
Grease baking dish; combine all ingredients
and mix well. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Stir every fifteen
minutes.

HAWAIIAN PIE
This is a recipe from my first cousin, Peggy. She says cooking is her
favorite hobby.
1 large can crushed pineapple
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 cup sugar
6-oz. box orange Jello
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup drained cherries
1 cup flaked coconut
4 or 5 firm bananas, sliced
Mix pineapple, cornstarch, sugar and salt.
Cook until thickened. Remove from heat and add Jello. Mix well
and allow to cool. Add nuts, cherries, bananas and coconut. Pour into
9X13-inch pan or dish and chill.

RICE KRISPIES CHEESE WAFERS
My wonderful friend and neighbor, Bonnie, makes these.
2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 sticks margarine, softened
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 cups flour
2 cups Rice Krispies
Cream butter. Add rest of ingredients
and mix well. Shape into small balls and flatten with a fork or shape into
small balls and flatten with a fork or shape into a roll and slice. Bake 12-15
minutes at 350 degrees. May be
stored in airtight container for a week or longer.

LADY FINGERS
I always made these with the children. Children love to get to roll them
like a snake.
2 cups plain flour
3/4 cup melted butter
4 Tablespoons powdered sugar
2 teaspoons
vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
extra powdered sugar to be used after baking
Mix well. Make out as fingersize. Bake at
275 degrees until lightly browned. Roll in powdered sugar

LISA'S GINGERBREAD MEN
I am like a little child. I love gingerbread men cookies and Lisa makes
the best!
Cream together: 1 cup sugar, 3/4 cup
margarine, 1/2 cup molasses, 1 egg
Add: 2 cups flour, 2 tsp. soda, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 tsp.
cinnamon, 1 tsp. cloves, 3 tsp. ginger
Mix dough and Chill
Roll on floured board-cut
with cookie cutters-put raisins for decoration
Bake at 375(Lisa uses 350) for 10 minutes.

CREAM CHEESE PRESSED MINTS
Use candy molds in Christmas shapes
1 8-oz. pkg. cream cheese
1/4 tsp. oil of peppermint
2 lbs. sifted confectioners' sugar
food coloring as desired
Mix well. Place in sugar-dusted molds.
Press and turn out. This makes a lot but they are good and pretty!
