The Glow
Mask
For this
tutorial you will need an image,
the
glow mask, Blade
Pro, Art
Texture,
Paint
Engine, Filter Factory A,
and the
Celtic font.
If you
want to use my image right click
and choose
save as and save to your
hard drive.
You will
also need to save the mask
image
to your hard drive.
Okay let's
get started. Open up your image and
also the
mask image. Click on your image to
make it
active. Now choose Layers/New Raster
Layer.
Using the bucket tool, Flood Fill the new
layer
with a contrasting color from your image.
I used
color#4d5948. Next choose Mask/New/
From Image
and choose the glow mask image
using
these settings.
Now choose
Masks/Delete and answer yes
to the
question.
Next add
a texture to the mask layer.
I used
paint engine with the following settings.
Now
choose Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and
use the
following settings. Next apply another drop
shadow,
same settings except H & V -2.
Next choose
Layers/Merge All.
Next choose
Image/Add Borders and add
a symmetric
border of 2 pixels. Using the magic
wand,
Match Mode RGB, Tolerance 0, Feather 0
Sample
Merged unchecked, select the border.
Now choose
Effects/Plug-in Filters/Ulead Effects/
Art Texture.
Click on the edit button and choose
palette

Next choose
pattern #1 and click OK.
Now add
a symmetric border of 12 pixels. I used
color#4D5948.
Using the magic wand same
settings
as before, select the border. Next
choose
Effects/Plug-in Filters/Filter Factory A/
Pool Shadow
and use the following settings.
Selections/Select
None.
Next add
another symmetric border of 2 pixels and apply
the art
texture plug-in using the same settings as before.
Next add
another symmetric border of 12. I used
color
#6C382C. Using the magic wand, same
settings
as before, select the border. Apply the
Filter
Factory A Pool Shadow, same settings as
before.
Now add another border of 2 pixels, select
the border,
and apply the art texture filter, same
settings
as before. Seletions/Select None.
Now choose
Layers/New Raster Layer. Using the text
tool and
the Celtic font, lower case m using these settings.
Next apply
a blade pro preset. I used Dee's Pitted
Gold
Now choose
Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and use
the following
settings.
Next choose
Layers/Duplicate, then Image/Mirror.
Make sure
you are on the duplicated layer and
choose
Layers/Duplicate, then Image/Flip. Now
duplicate
the flipped layer and then choose Image/Mirror.
Last of
all merge your layers.
