Sandra
Torres - Singer

Born May 10th 1974, Sandra's love of music was evident,
even as a baby. By the age of 4, she was happy to sing any of her favorite "Judy
Garland" songs for the asking and spent hours making up songs of her own. In
1988, when Veda Zuponcic traveled to middle schools in search of talent for a N.J.
Hollybush Festival Opera, Sandra was chosen for the children's chorus. An appreciation
for opera and serious vocal training followed. Sandra has studied classical singing
in the vocal studio of Florence Berggren, Professor Emeritus at Temple University
and the Julliard School and has coached with Mr Martin Rich, former guest conductor
of the Metropolitan Opera. She has performed with the Ocean City Pops, South Jersey
Opera Society, Rowan College Concert Choir, and Rowan Opera Company. In 1998, recalling
her love of jazz standards, Sandra began a series of benefit concerts for Habitat
for Humanity and performed locally in the Pittsburg area. Now, back home in the Philadelphia/
South Jersey area, she works with Brian Hatcher in the duo Hatcher & Her.
She works to intigrate her classical training into her renditions of Jazz Standards.
"A good foundation to Swing by."
