Back 1.18.2001 Ah, the fun and really popular plot line challenges. Remember to follow the directions as closely as possible! ^_^ Recent challenges will be listed at the top from now on. *Write a fic based on the original Greek story of Lesestrada (if you don't know what it is, it's the story of a society where the men are always going off to war, so the women decide to withold sex until they stop fighting), only change the resistance of sexuality with something else. *OOH! Here's an interesting one. Write a really bad fic or series (or get permission to use someone else's) and do an entire series of some HP characters stranded on the Satellite of Love (yes, the same Satellite of Love from Mystery Science Theater 3000!) to MiST the fic(s). A good idea would be to make Lord Voldemort as the evil wizard who sends the bad fics with Wormtail as his faithful sidekick. Use just a trio of characters to make fun of it, though, like Percy and the twins (to effectively annoy him) or Harry and Ron and Hermione. *Write about an unusual event at the Ministry of Magic. Make it funny, going up the ladder of importance by people, doing their POVs as you go along. For example, you could start out with the mailclerks, or someone's secretary, then go up to someone like Percy or Arthur, all the way up to Cornelius Fudge. *What do teachers do after school hours? (No, not that, get your mind out of the gutter, you know who you are...) Besides grading papers and whining about students, do they perhaps watch a bad B-movie every now and then? Are their lives bland or spicy? Can we say Soap Opera? *And of course there's Crookshanks. Doesn't he almost seem human sometimes? What's with the name? Did he have other owners before Hermione? *Write a humourous story about a trip to the middle of a field (that's not a field trip, hee hee!), throwing in as many words that rhyme as possible. *My big masterpiece for those of you who like a real challenge! Write a fic based on the plot of Margaret Mitchell's Gone With the Wind--you know, girl falls in love with boy who loves someone else, girl spends half a lifetime trying to win him until she finally realizes she truly loves the boy she's with, who leaves her at the last possible moment. (This would be great if you did Harry/Cho as Ashley/Melanie type characters and Ron/Hermione as Rhett/Scarlett type characters. Or you could make Ron into one of Hermione's many husbands and Draco as the bad boy Rhett Butler. ^_^ And they would all have to put up with each other like the story says.) Okay, so it would be really really out of character for these kids, but hey! Isn't that what fanfic's all about? And I want these to be a series! Not some 2 page flimsy old thing! Make it LONG! :) *Write a fic involving time traveling complications and the characters having to adjust to a new time period. *Write a fic where everything is flip-flopped (like an alternate universe) and all the characters are out of sync with themselves (Ron could be like Hermione, etc.). *Write a fic about a character (or several characters in sucession) talking to a rubber duck in the bathtub one evening. Have them confide some deep secret they harbour, (at least one person must say "Whaddaya think, rubber ducky? Quack, quack! My thoughts exactly.") *What if a home movie camera accidentally founds its way onto the premises of Hogwarts? Who would find it and what would they do with it? What if they made a video and someone else got ahold of it and watched it? *Write a story where the characters are beset by a treacherous rhyming curse...and can't get over it. The more Dr. Seuss-y this one is, the better! *Write a story where 2 of the characters switch bodies and can't change back unless something really weird and freaky happens (like a flying cow goes past Dumbledore's office window at 3:12 in the afternoon) *A write-in of The Goblet of Fire about what happens before and after Ron and Hermione's fight that takes place when Harry gets back to the common room after the Yule Ball. What do they say before he shows up? How is the conversation started? What do Ron and Hermione do after they both go to their rooms? *Where do Pureblood wizards go to school before Hogwarts? *Write something about a lesser known character (like Profs. Vector or Sinistra, or Bill or Charlie), using as many weird words as possible that start with the letter R. *How did Arthur and Molly (the Weasley parents) meet at Hogwarts? What did they do after graduation? Did they "see other people"? How did they become engaged to marry? *Write a story where the characters get stuck somewhere in school without a teacher due to bad weather. What do they do to pass the time? Do they become better friends because of the experience? *What about Lily? Write a fic pertaining to her and Petunia. Were they good sisters who got along? What changed Petunia's opinion of Lily (if it was good before)? Was it her going to Hogwarts or marrying James? *Hmm...what about Sirius Black? Who is he, really, and where is he from? Was he poor or rich? Who were his parents? How did he meet James? *What kinds of things did Ron and Hermione talk about or do back in their 3rd year when they got to go to Hogsmeade and Harry didn't? *What if Draco Malfoy was originally "The Boy Who Lived" and Harry Potter was the vile and sneery Slytherin favourite? Would it change who their friends were? Or would Ron and Hermione be best friends with Draco and Harry constantly followed by Crabbe and Goyle? *Write a fic where a young female substitive teacher replaces Professor Binns and is so cool that by the time Binns returns, no one wants her to leave! *Write a fic about an interesting yet oddly normal of a day in the life of Molly, Charlie, or Bill Weasley. *What was Mrs. Crouch (Barty Sr.'s wife and Barty Jr.'s mother) like? Was she like Bart Senior or a secret Death Eater like Barty Jr? *If Harry, Hermione and Ron became animagi, what animals would they turn themselves into? *Write a fic where several characters get stuck inside a TV show. Be sure the character takes after another character played on the TV show. For example, Professor Snape really reminds me of Zorak on Space Ghost Coast to Coast. What if he got stuck on SGC2C and couldn't get out?
