Star Awards 2006
Star Awards06 is the most painful for fans and artistes alike. Unlike previous event, Telepoll started early- six weeks prior to award ceremony with results of the top 10 being announced every week in the variety show " Star Awards Upclose". Besides having to spend more money on voting, much anguish and anxiety is generated.
One entertainment magazine hinted that the only party that benefited from this event are the " high officials living in the Hill". Profit was not only reaped from fans, agents and audience who had to vote continuously but also those artistes who "invest" heavily in themselves. It was more like a year end "pay-cut" than a bonus for some who "invest' in order to win.

Only screen caps of Hanwei at the award ceremony - walking on the "blue carpet" |
Fans had to stay outside under grim weather & hardly catch a glimpse of the stars. Some consolation perhaps being featured |
After watching the show one
blogger asked if this show was meant to reward those who are talented and
worked hard. Will our awards ever reach the standards and professionalism of
overseas entertainment awards - looking at the way it is being run now, he
continued. His was not the only concerned comment . Looking at the deluge of negative remarks (on venue, organisation, hosting, results etc) posted in the media (newspapers , forum, magazines and blogs ) , it seems the answer is unanimous no. The remarks are too many to list. These are the ones to MCS's very own media: Also interviews of Hanwei from SPH's Chinese newspapers
