Jennifer Taylor sat on a park bench talking to Carol Chanders, who was 9 months
pregnant at the time, about Jennifer's brand new baby boy, Justin. As they were
talking, Jennifer didn't notice the dark haired boy who bumped into the
carriage. She heard the boy's gasp and turned in time to grab the carriage
before it rolled away.
"Sorry, ma'am." the young boy said.
"It's okay." Jennifer said as she rocked Justin in the carriage
gently. "Shh, Justin. It's okay."
"He's cute." The boy said, peeking into the carriage at Justin. he
reaches out and touches Justin's hand.
Jennifer smiled. "His name is Justin and he's almost one. How old are
you?"
"I'm thirteen." He said to Jennifer before looking back down at the
baby. "Hi, Justin." The boy whispered.
Justin settled down, his tiny fingers gripping one of Brian's finger before
cooing happily up to the dark haired boy.
"He likes you" Jennifer smiled.
"He's the cutest baby I've seen." The boy murmured
"Thank you." Jennifer smiled "Here, come sit with me." She
made room for the boy to sit beside her.
"Do you like having a baby?" He asked, sitting down beside her.
Jennifer nodded. "Very much. Would you like to hold him?"
"Can I really?" The boy asked, his hazel eyes lighting up.
"Sure." Jennifer smiled and helped the 13 year old settle Justin in
his arms.
"I've never held a baby before." The boy said nervously, looking down
at his precious cargo.
"You're doing great so far." Jennifer assured him, watching the boy
gaze in awe at Justin.
"You're really nice." He said wistfully, looking up at Jennifer with
those intense hazel eyes.
"So are you." Jennifer asked.
"What's your name?" He said, looking back down at Justin.
"I'm Jennifer. Nice to meet you." She said.
"It's very nice to meet you." The boy smiled brightly to her.
Jennifer looked down at her watch. "Well, it's time for me to get Justin
home. His dad will be home soon."
"Thank you for letting me hold him." The boy said as he helped her
settle Justin in his carriage. He really didn't want to give up the baby. He
was so beautiful.
"You're welcome. If you ever see me here, feel free to come over. I'm sure
Justin would like to play with you again." Jennifer rose and fixed her
coat before looking back to the boy. "Did you need a ride home?"
"No, I'm ok." He kicked at the dirt. "I'm just going to hang
around here for a while." He didn't want the rich lady to see his pathetic
house or his family.
"I hope to see you again." Jennifer smiled and walked out of the
park, heading to her car.
"Bye Justin." The boy whispered. "See you again soon."
