If that plan fails, as back up, Laertes will make Hamlet work really hard so that he gets thirsty. Claudius will then have a cup prepared for Hamlet that is filled with poison. When Claudius is finished explaining the plan to Laertes, Gertrude walks in with news that Ophelia has drowned herself.
Act 5 Scene 1
This scene is the “Gravedigger” scene. Basically after Ophelia died, they decided to have her buried in a Christian burial. After a while Hamlet came with Horatio, to see what was going on. Hamlet asked the gravedigger who was being buried there, and he refused to tell Hamlet. He felt Ophelia shouldn’t have been buried there since she took her own life. Hamlet and the gravedigger were going back and forth in an argument because he wasn’t backing down to Hamlet. The funeral took place, while Claudius and Hamlet has a few words to say about Ophelia. Hamlet was explaining how he really loved and cared for Ophelia.

While watching Hamlet and Laertes fence, Gertrude drinks a poisoned drink and collapses. She tells Hamlet that she had been poisoned and she dies. The blade Hamlet got cut with had poison on it, so he stabs Claudius with it. Hamlet forces the drink down Claudius throat, and he also dies. Hamlet dies from his wound, which had poison on it.
