The play Romeo and Juliet begins with a fight between the Montague’s and the Capulet’s. These families come from Verona and have been fighting for a long time. During this fight the Prince shows up and stops the fighting. He then tells them that if they are caught fighting again they will be under penalty of death. Romeo son of Lord Montague is in love with Rosaline who wont give him the time of day. Paris a kinsman to the Prince it trying to court Juliet; however, Lord Capulet wont allow it because she is too young. He tells Paris he must wait two years until she turns sis teen. The Capulets are the host of a costume party. Where the very uninvited and unwanted Romeo and his friends show up. While at the party Romeo sees Juliet for the first time not knowing that she is a Capulet he falls in love with her instantly. After the Party is over Romeo waits for Juliet in the court years. When Juliet finally arrives they decide to get married. However, because of the hate between the two families they know they must get married secretly. The next day Romeo and Juliet are secretly married.

When Mercutio is killed by a Capulet Romeo flees to Mantua to escape death by the Prince. However when Lord Capulet hears of what has happened he decides that Juliet shall marry Paris. After finding out she must get married she goes the friar for help. There she tells him that if she has to marry Paris she will kill herself. The friar tells her of a poison that will make her seem like she is dead, but within a few days she will wake unharmed. Juliet decides to take the poison thinking there is nothing else she can do. And friar writes Romeo to tell him the news. However, before he receives the letter he gets word that Juliet is dead. Romeo goes to Juliet’s tomb where he sees Juliet dead. So he drinks a poison he bought off a poor man and is killed. When Juliet’s poison wears off and she is awake she sees Romeo dead and stabs her self with his dagger.
