Hello Polo Bear family and friends, The new season is fast approaching. Sign-on day – Saturday 13th August from 2 pm – 4 pm. Please nominate for volunteer positions. Water polo is a fabulous sport; Polo Bears is a great club with lots of potential. Time is precious, so are our children. · From August, the pool management has promised us the 25 m pool configuration to enable us to train in the whole pool for Skills Development. · Skills Development and Fitness Program will continue on Sunday afternoons during the playing season. Rick Arnold has offered to provide this service for our juniors. · Derek Richard will provide a Skills Enhancement and Fitness Program on Wednesday evenings during the playing season. These programs will complement our team training on Thursday evenings. · Club training will be Thursday evening 5.30 – 7 for juniors, 6 – 8 for seniors. · Flippa Ball will commence on Sundays following the collaborative program with QPWI, PRSC and Polo Bears during the September school holidays. · Polo Bears COME and TRY Water Polo Day for new players will be held on Sunday 28th August. I encourage all our current members to come along and have some fun. This is FREE thanks to a Qld Sport and Recreation Grant. · Coaching, refereeing and table official’s courses will be run in late August by QWPI. · All juniors, seniors and parents/carers are encouraged to participate. For those interested, these will be complementary to club members and their families. Please let me know your intentions. With the participation programs underway, we are expecting our club and enthusiasm in the sport to grow. · All coaches and referees, and volunteers as a group now require a BLUE CARD if over 18 years of age. Please find enclosed documents. Hand these to the registrar at sign-on day. This is also free for volunteers and handy to have as identification. · All players will receive cards for pool admission now the club is required to hire the pool. Nobody pays pool entry for team based training on Thursday. · The Skills Development and Enhancement programs are optional for less than $5 a session depending on numbers. The club requires a full season’s commitment to these sessions so pool hire can be paid in advance. · Junior boys will now play centrally at Musgrave pool. There may be changes to age groups for junior boys to U13 born 1991, U 14 born 1992 and U 17 to complement interstate competitions. · There are also venue and time changes for state championships, · The girls will continue to play centrally at St Rita’s and The Valley. · There are changes to the senior competition so that Men play and referee on 1 night and the Women on another night. There must be a list of accredited referees to perform this duty. · Also be aware of rule changes made by FINA http://www.waterpoloaus.asn.au/media_releases/mr2005/mr07/013.htm · Games: Saturdays – Girls - Valley Pool: Boys - Musgrave Pool West End.
Regards, Wendy Yule (Acting President Polo Bears)
