Yusuke fights Gouki. Botan interrupts them an Gouki leaves. Yusuke wakes up at his home. Botan is now visible to normal people because she is Yusuke's assistant. Yusuke receives the second and third Spiritual Detective items, the Spiritual Compass and the Ring of Spirit Shooting. The compass gives the location and distance of any nearby spirits. The ring increases the power of Yusuke's Spirit Gun. Yusuke fights Gouki again and defeats him. The children's souls return to their bodies. Kurama agrees to give Yusuke the mirror after the next full moon. Kurama introduces Yusuke to his hospitalized mother. Kurama explains about his human form and his real form. Kurama tells Yusuke that he plans to use the mirror to make give mom healthy again. In order to make his wish come true, Kurama must sacrifice his own life. Yusuke tries to sacrifice part of his life to save Kurama. Because of their sacrifices, the mirror decides not to take either of their lives.
