1. ANGRY! Lina's Furious Dragu Slave!
Episode one opens with the Dragon's Fang bandits celebrating their acquisition of more loot. Suddenly, their party is broken up by Lina's fireball entrance. She quickly turns the bandits to charcoal and steals their loot. One the road the next day, Lina is confronted my left-over bandits from the Dragon's Fang. She is about to fight them when a dashing swordsman enters and 'saves her.' However, once the man gets a good look at her, he is disappointed to find a kid in the place of what he though was a lovely maiden. He decides to escort her to Atlas City. The two stop at a diner on their way, and Lina is enlisted to rid the town of a black dragon. The dragon belonged to the Dragon's Fang, and with no one around to take care of it, escaped. To deal with the dragon, Lina uses her most powerful attack: Dragu Slave. However, the spell wipes out most of the town as well and the two are chased for repair money.
2. BAD! Mummy Men Aren't My Type!
Two men stand overlooking the damage done by Lina's Dragon Slave attack. Zolf, dressed entirely in bandages, was present during Lina's attack on the Dragon's Fang and received massive burns from the attack. The other simply shakes his head while Zolf rants about revenge. Meanwhile, Lina and Gourry are searching for a magic shop to sell some of Lina's loot. Lina heads to an abandoned building to sort out her loot. She finds she has an 'Orihalcon' statue, an enchanted dagger, some old coins, and a lot of rubies and other assorted jewels. Using magic, she turns flawed rubies into a magical amulet. When she tries to sell the dagger, it's spell affects the shopkeeper and her tries to kill Lina and Gourry. They escape when the shopkeeper's wife breaks the spell by berating her husband for leaving the shop unattended. Lina and Gourry stop at an inn that night, and are interrupted by Zolf. However, Zolf is leading a band of trolls and they attack. Lina casts a spell that reverses the trolls' power of instant healing so that when cut, they'll collapse in on themselves. Lina scares the rest away with a 'fireball'. Once Zolf leaves, it's revealed that the 'fireball' was a simple light spell.
3. CRASH! Red and White and Suspicious All Over!
Zolf and the other man from the beginning of the last episode show up at Lina and Gourry's room that night. Lina lets them in considering both her and the other man have bodyguards. The man introduces himself as Zelgadiss. He wants to buy the loot Lina stole from the Dragon's Fang bandits. Lina, however, sets ridiculously high prices for the objects. Zelgadiss leaves, threatening that he will attack her as soon as she leaves the inn tomorrow. Lina and Gourry are ambushed by a group of berserkers while walking through a forest. Lina is injured, and Gourry carries her to the next city. At the inn that night, Lina's room is destroyed by a troll attack. Leading the trolls is an old swordsman. Partway through the fight, the swordsman and trolls fall asleep. A purple-haired priest shows up and explains that the swordsman and trolls were probably sent by Zelgadiss. Zelgadiss wants one of the items Lina stole to resurrect Ruby-Eye Shabranigdu, the most powerful demon known. The priest is identified as Rezo the Red Priest, one of the greatest wise men of the century. Lina decides to hold onto the items instead of giving them to Rezo, saying she would like to help stop Zelgadiss by being bait. Rezo agrees, then leaves. Lina, uncomfortable in sleeping in her room, sleeps on the floor in Gourry's room.
4. DASH! Run for it! My Magic Doesn't Work!
That morning, Lina explains to Gourry about Shabranigdu. Thousands of years ago, there was a fight between two races: the Kami (Race of Gods) and Mazoku (Race of Monsters). Ceiphied, the Dragon King, was the leader of the Kami, and Shabranigdu, the Dark Lord, led the Mazoku. Waging war against each other, their battles lasted for eons, until finally, Ceiphied defeated Shabranigdu and separated him into seven pieces. Only the Dark Lord wasn't defeated; being cut up means nothing to a monster. One thousand years ago, one of the pieces of Shabranigdu was reborn, and, with the help of the Water Dragon King, one of the pieces of Ceiphied was able to defeat the piece of Shabranigdu, but his body was sealed into the ground as a result. The damage had been wrought; the balance of nature had been disrupted, and tipped towards monsters; from thence came the monsters; trolls, demons, and other abominations. While traveling through yet another forest, Lina and Gourry are attacked. (What a surprise!) This time by Zelgadis, (Who, by the way, now looks like a blue, stone-faced person instead of being shrouded by his cape.) Dilgear (a troll/wolf combination), and the swordsman. Lina and Gourry are separated during the fight. Lina, who cannot use her magic due to 'that time of the month' loses to Zelgadis.
