Endymion, Prince of Earth, was born during the Silver Millenium. One of the citizens of Earth, Beryl, made a pact with Metalia to help destroy the Moon Kingdom in exchange for power. While the Moon Kingdom and Earth are at war, Princess Serenity of the Moon and Endymion sneak off to see each other. When Beryl launched her attack on the Moon, Endymion was there to try to stop her. However both he and Serenity died in the conflict. Serenity's mother, Queen Serenity, had to stop Beryl. She used the last of her power to send her subjects to be reborn on Earth in the future.
Endymion was reborn on earth as Chiba Mamoru (Darien Shields), aka Tuxedo Kamen (Tuxedo Mask). His parents were killed in a car accident when he was six, and he remembers nothing from before that. He first met Usagi while she was at the hospital as a little candy striper after he was in the accident. He was once a model. He now protects Sailor Moon as Tuxedo Kamen. His main attack is throwing a red rose. Sometimes he uses his cane like a sword. During the first series he was taken over by Beryl and tried to kill Sailor Moon using Black Roses.
During the second series, while his memory was gone again, Mamoru protected Usagi as the Moonlight Knight. Moonlight Knight was Mamoru's subconscious but still technically Mamoru. After the demise of Ali (Alen) and Ann, he got his memory back. There are still after holes left though. For instance, he doesn't remember his and Usagi's first kiss. During the Stars season, Mamoru is kidnapped by Queen Nehelenia. After Usagi saves him, he travels overseas to study in America. The plane his is on is attacked by Sailor Galaxia and his Star Seed is stolen. Usagi is reunited with him at the end of the Stars Season.
In the future, Mamoru marries Usagi. She becomes Neo Queen Serenity, and he becomes King Endymion. Together they rule Crystal Tokyo. They have a daughter, Chibi Usa, who everyone calls Small Lady. In the manga, Tuxedo Kamen has an attack called Tuxedo Smoking Bomber.
