Born thousands of years in the past as Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom, this young girl has had a turbulent life. She and her beloved, Prince Endymion were killed in a direct attack on the Moon by the Dark Kingdom. Her mother, Queen Serenity used the Silver Crystal to stop the Dark Kingdom and sent Serenity and all the subjects of the Moon Kingdom to be reborn on Earth in the future.
Serenity was reborn as the klutzy, lazy, and often not quite too bright Tsinko Usagi. She never fails to be late to school because she overslept. She is always stuffing her face but never gains a pound. When she meets the hunky Chiba Mamoru, they get off to a rocky start and she starts to hate him. He's the one that first gives her the nickname "Odango otoma" or "Meatball head" because of her unique hairdo. However, Usagi is completely in love with Tuxedo Kamen (Tuxedo Mask), which makes for an interesting time when she learns that Tuxey is Mamoru.
Sailor Moon is the one who is charged to lead the Sailor Senshi (Sailor Scouts). She is hands down the most powerful of all the senshi, mainly because of the emperial silver crystal. She is very loyal to her friends, and loves Chibi Usa very much, even if she doesn't show it. She will do anything to protect her friends and to protect the earth. Through the series she matures from her whiney self to a determined, powerful Eternal Princess. Sailor Moon is the guardian of the Empirial Silver Crystal and the Holy Grail (Sacred Cup). She becomes Neo-Queen Serenity of Crystal Tokyo in the 30th Century.
Sailor Moon has many forms: Sailor Moon, Usagi, Sailor Moon R, Sailor Moon S, Super Sailor Moon, Eternal Sailor Moon, Princess Serenity, and Neo Queen Serenity. She transforms into Sailor Moon using the phrase "Moon prism power, make up." Saying "Moon crystal power, make up" transforms her into Sailor Moon R. "Moon cosmic power, make up" turns her into Sailor Moon S. "Crisis make up" turns her into Super Sailor Moon with Chibi Moon. She turns into Eternal Sailor Moon with "Moon eternal make up." In the manga she uses the phrase "Silver Moon Crystal Power, Make up" to transform.
Her attacks use either one of her various rods, her tiara, or a crystal. Sailor Moon has Moon Healing Escalation with the Cresent Moon Rod as well as Moon Tiara Action and Moon Tiara Stardust in the first season. Sailor Moon R has Moon Princess Halation with the Cutie Moon Rod. The Spiral Moon Heart Rod does Moon Spiral Heart Attack and Rainbow Moon Heart Ache for Sailor Moon S. Also, Super Sailor Moon uses Moon Gorgeous Meditation with her Kaleid Moon Scope. Finally, Eternal Sailor Moon does Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss and Silver Moon Crystal Power Kiss with the Eternal Moon Tial. She also uses a sonic scream attack, Sailor Body Attack, and Sailor Moon Kick. In the manga she uses the attacks Moon Frisbee and Moon Twilight Flash.
