Misato wakes up and asks Shinji if he's going to skip school for a sixth day. She finds that Shinji has run away. Toji and Kensuke arrive to see Shinji and meet Misato. She tells them that he's at NERV and they deliver his printouts. Shinji rides a train to the end of the line. He goes to a movie about the second impact but he doesn't watch it. He walks out into a field. Misato remembers yelling at Shinji because he disobeyed her orders and he only answered her with 'yes'. She tells him that he shouldn't pilot Unit 01 if it only means pain to him. Kensuke sees Shinji and takes him to his camp. Kensuke acts out battles for fun. Some men from the NERV Security Intelligence come for Shinji and he goes with them. Toji yells at Kensuke at school. Misato yells at Shinji after he ran away for two days and for piloting Unit 01 even though he doesn't care about it. Shinji is dropped off at a train station and Toji and Kensuke bring him his bag. Toji asks Shinji to hit him. As the guards lead him away, Shinji tells them that he's the one that deserves to be hit. Misato realizes what the 'Hedgehog Dilemma' means. The train pulls out and Misato arrives. Toji and Kensuke are still there. As the train pulls away, Shinji is revealed standing on the loading dock for the train and Misato sees him.
