PART 7

Everyone turned towards the voice they all recognized.  Zan put Maria down but grabbed a hold of her hand.  Max went and stood next to Zan with Ava in hand.  Maria pulled her hand free of Zan’s, walked over and gave the intruder a hug.

“It’s nice to see you again Michael but how did you find us?”  Maria asked as she was pulling away from the hug.

“Zan left me a clue in my pocket before you guys left.”  Michael answered as he held out a piece of paper to Maria.

“I didn’t mean for you to practically follow us Michael.”  Zan said as he walked over to his brother and gave him a hug.

“Where is Tess?”  Ava asked finally with fear evident in her voice and in her eyes.

“I came alone Ava.  No one knew I had left or where exactly I was coming.  I left in the middle of the night so no one would follow me.”  Michael replied then walked over and shook hands with Max and got a hug from Ava.  “Max I’m glad you’ve helped my brother, Maria and Ava.  If I had known all I know now I would have come with you guys.”

“I help them because they are my family.”  Max said with out thought.

“How long are you here for Michael?”  Zan asked.

“Just a couple of days, I had to bring a couple of things with me for you three.  The things were given to me because the people were hopeing that I could get them to you.  I thought it was important so I brought them as quick as possible.”  Michael said.  He walked over to his bagged and grabbed 4 manila envelopes.  He handed one to Max, Ava, Zan and Maria.  “I don’t know what’s in them so I hope they are important.”

Everyone just stared at them because they were afraid to open them.  Finally Max opened his.  Inside was a pictures of his parents, Lonnie and of him and Ava, he had never seen plus a couple of letters from his parents, Lonnie and Tess and an envelopes full of money.

Zan opened his next, his was similar.  He got pictures, letters from his parents & Tess, money and keys to his family vacation house in California with a note attached.

‘Enjoy the house since we never use it.  It’s not yours.  Your Parents P.S. Nobody knows about this house.  We love you Zan’

Ava opened her next.  She got pictures, letters from her parents and Tess, money and her missing persons file with CLOSED stamped on the front of it.

Maria opened hers last except hers only had 2 other envelopes inside.  One said read first then open the other.  She opened it and broke down crying.  Zan was at her side before she hit the floor.  Ava grabbed the envelope and read what it said to everyone.

“Maria, I hope you enjoy your freedom because NOW you have NO FAMILY.  You are no longer our daughter or Kyle’s sister.  Everything that would remind us of you is gone.  We gave Michael all your belongings from your old room like your cloths, pictures of your friends and whatever else that belonged to you.  The rest of the stuff like your bed, dresser and other big stuff we destroyed or gave away.  If you ever return to Roswell don’t come to my house because we will treat you like you are a stranger.  We will tell people that you’re dead because YOU ARE DEAD TO US.  Jim, Amy & Kyle Valenti” Ava finished reading the letters with tears running down her face.

Everyone looked at Maria, she had calmed down enough to open the other envelope.  She pulled out her birth certificate, her baby pictures, any pictures that she had been in, one more letter and her emancipation papers.

“They knew you would come to us as soon as possible.  You knew what my parents did that’s why you’re here.  Where is my other stuff?”  Maria asked never taking her eyes of Michael.

“I got your clothes in the car.  The other stuff like pictures, stereo, TV and VCR I took to your new place.”  Michael answered her without looking her in the eyes.

“What new place?  We can’t afford anything more then this.”  Maria yelled and got out of Zan’s arms.

“My parents gave me their vacation house here in L.A.”  Zan answered then went to hold Maria but she moved towards the envelope because she saw something else in it.  When she pulled it out she gasped and handed the papers to Ava.  Ava looked at them over then grabbed a hold of Maria and let the papers fall to the floor.  Michael picked then up, looked through them and when he got to the last one he also gasped.

“What is it?”  Zan asked.

“Ava’s emancipation papers and Maria Lynn Valenti’s Death Certificate.”  Michael said as he handed Max, Ava’s papers and Zan, Maria’s death certificate.

“Oh dear god.”  Zan said.  He looked it over and then grabbed her birth certificate.  That’s when he noticed.  “It’s a fake, the death certificate is a fake.  He made it to prove you were dead to them”

“What a sick bastard.”  Max said as he took Maria and Ava into his arms and hugged them.  Finally they pulled apart.

“When do we move and who know about this new place?”  Maria asked.

“Just the people in this room and my parents.  We’ve never been there as a family, we’ve only owned it for about two years.  My parents bought it from some guy here in L.A.  They put it in Zan’s name but in his real name.”

“Most people think his real name is Zan not Alezander.”  Michael said.

“I don’t know anyone who has every called me Alezander.  When his parents registered him for school they used Zan so even the school records don’t have his given name.”  Maria said.

“The only reason I know it is Alezander is because your parents named you after each other.  Alezander Michael and Michael Alezander.”  Max said.

“I didn’t even know that was his name.”  Ava added.

“Anyway enough about my name.  Our lease is up at the end of the month.  Maria and Ava will quit working at the bar and go back to school full time.  You won’t need to work anymore.  My parents sent me some and set up a bank account with enough money plus no rent because the house is paid for.  I guess it is nice when your parents have a lot of money.”  Zan said.

“MY parents sent me some money too.”  Ava said.

“Mine sent me some cash but they also set up an account for me too.”  Max said.

“Well my EX-parents sent me a death certificate with no money.”  Maria tried to joke.

“I say you guys move as soon as possible.”  Michael said.  “I’ll be here for a couple of days and can help you move with my Yukon because it has a lot of room.”

”I agree with Michael.  So when Ava and I register for school we won’t have to change address plus we’ll have extra help.”  Maria replied.

“Sounds good, we’ll start packing in the morning.  We wont have that much stuff to take because out new place has furniture and bedroom stuff.”  Zan said.

“Michael you can sleep on the couch it pulls out into a bad.  Ava and I will get it all set up, you three guys can go get us something to eat because we are hungry.”  Maria said then practically pushed the guys out of the apartment.

After the guys were out of ear shot Ava turned to Maria and pulled her into another hug.

“Ria hun, how are you really?  I know this has to hurt.”

“I’m okay really Ava.  It hurts but not as much as you think it would.  I was more shocked then anything.  But after I thought about it and stopped crying I realized that I don’t need my parents and Kyle because I have a family here with you guys.  I never would have forgiven my family after that trip to Roswell anyways.  At least we can start school and move on with our lives without any worries about getting caught and hauled back to Roswell and away from Zan and Max.”

“I’m glad about that too.  I hate that you’re the only that got hurt in all this.  Zan, Max and I still have a family to go back to if the need ever arises and you don’t.  But you will never have to worry about us leaving you behind.  Also I’m so excited about you and Zan becoming engaged tonight, at least that is a happy moment for you and him.”

“God, I can’t believe he did that tonight I was totally shocked and happy at the same time.  I know that we promised to be together forever I just never thought that Zan would want to be married.  I can’t wait to plan it.  You as my maid of honor, Max as the Best Man and Michael as a Groomsman.  Which means I’ll have to find some one else to walk with Michael or Michael could just be there with us.  Actually maybe the five of us could just go to the Justice of the Peace and you three being the witnesses of it.”  Maria said.

“We’ll have to wait and see what Zan wants before we make any more plans because it is his wedding too.  Did we ever tell Michael what was happening when he showed up at the door?”  Ava asked as she was helping Maria get the couch bed ready for Michael.

“No we never did but we’ll have to tell him when they get back.  I can’t wait to get moved into the new place. I can’ believe Zan’s and Michael’s parents gave us this house.  I’m going to miss working at the bar but school will get us a lot further in life.  Hopefully the guys will start taking some college course now that we have some money and we don’t have to worry about rent.  I don’t want to hold Zan back from what I know he is capable of achieving.  I don’t want him to end of up hating me for it later down the road.”

“I know what you mean because I feel the same way about Max.  I guess I feel is more for Max because the three of us had reasons to leave but he didn’t, he left because of us.  I love him so much.”

“I know you do but Max wouldn’t still be here if he didn’t want to be and he wants to be with you.  So you have nothing to worry about.”  Maria said before she heard the door open for the guys.  “Trouble is back.”
