PART 6 Later in the Evening Max and Ava walked into the dark apartment. “I guess they went out.” Mx said but just as he finished his sentence Zan walked out of his room. “Hey you two, Maria is still sleeping. So what did Max tell you Ava?” Zan said when he saw them. “He told me you two went to Roswell without us. That Kyle and Tess jumped you and you two found out why we really ran away. Tess cried said she was sorry and missed me. And that Michael is an all out savior for us.” Ava answered without looking at either Zan or Max. “Are you mad we didn’t’ tell you this before because if you are be mad at me, not Maria and Max. Maria needs you now more then ever.” Zan said. “I’m not mad Zan. You did it to protect me. I’m just sad that we couldn’t protect Maria the same way.” Ava said now looking Max then Zan in the eyes. They could see her unshed tears. Zan walked over to her and pulled her into a hug. “Don’t cry Ava.” Whispered Zan. Maria walked out of the room to find Ava crying in Zan’s arms while Max looked on. “What’s wrong? Why is Ava crying?” Maris asked in a worried tone. Next thing she knew, she was laying on her back back with Ava’s arms hugging her. “Your okay.” Ava said. Maria clung to Ava, as Ava clung to her. “I’m sorry I scared you. I was in a dark place. All I could hear was Kyle. I was you but I couldn’t talk, I’m so sorry.” Maria said as she let her tears fall again. “I’m just glad you okay and you’re talking now. We have a lot to talk about. Max didn’t tell me what happened with your dad. Did he hurt you again?” Maria looked at Zan as she grabbed her bruised arm. Zan nodded in encouragement and Maria pulled up her sleeve to reveal her bruise to Max and Ava. “OMIGOD, what did your father do?” Max asked calmly but you could see in his eyes all the anger at seeing her hurt. “He grabbed me and started pulling me towards my old room. He was squeezing really hard. I kicked him as hard as I could in the balls when he wouldn’t let me go then I ran out and you know the rest. Ava this happened in front of your parents. I didn’t give your parents a chance to ask about you, I told then you weren’t with me and you never want to come back. I don’t know if that is completely true but I just want to hurt then like they let Tess hurt you.” “It’s true, everything you told them. I’m extremely happy here with you three. I miss my parents from time to time but I can’t bring myself to miss Tess and I don’t think I ever will.” ”Max, I know that you came with us because we are your friends but I bet you miss your family and Lonnie. I just want you to know that you are my brother. But I’d understand if you wanted to go back to Roswell? We’d miss you because one of our family would be gone.” Maria said. “Yes I miss them but not as much as I thought I would. Lonnie and I were never close actually we couldn’t stand each other. You what they say ‘You’re stuck with your family that’s why we choose our friends.’ And I chose you guys, I chose to leave. No you’re stuck with me.” Max said. Ava ran to him and threw her arms around is neck and kissed him. After they broke their kiss Ava turned to Zan. “How about you Zan? We know you miss Michael. I mean he is your twin so you do have a strong bond with him. You left because of Kyle not your family.” Ava said. She then look at Maria who had fresh tears in her eyes waiting for Zan’s response. “Yes I ran away because of Kyle but that’s not all. Michael and I have never been close because chose his friendship with Kyle over me. But while we were their Michael helped us out and that makes me happy. He wishes he could change the choice he made but he can’t. I’ll miss him but I get to talk to him, he’s our only link back in Roswell. He’ll tell us if Ava’s parents dropped their missing persons report and if Kyle gets his parents to sign those papers for Maria. I’m not leaving here without the three of you. My girlfriend, my little sis and my new brother. You are my family.” Zan said then turned to Maria and pulled a small box out of his pocket. “I love you so much. I never knew I could love someone so much. I want you in my life forever Maria.” Zan then got down on one knee and open the box. “Maria Rose Valenti will you marry me?” Max and Ava stared at Zan and Maria in total awe. Maria stared at Zan with tears of happiness running down her face. Zan kept look at Maria with hope in his eyes. “Yes!” Maria whispered as she was nodding her head yes. “YES, YOU SAID YES.” Zan yelled as he jumped up and grabbed Maria into hug as he swung her around. Making her & him laugh with joy. “Why is everyone laughing in here?” A voice said from the door no one had heard open. |
