PART 5 In LA After driving back in silence Zan and Maria finally pulled up in front of their apartment. Maria gets out of the car and walks inside without waiting for Zan. When she got inside she found Max and Ava sleeping on the couch, she just walked past them into her room and shut the door, causing the two sleeping to wake up. Max and Ava look at the door just as Zan walks in with their stuff. “Max can I talk to you alone for a minute?” Zan asked. “I’ll go see Maria while you two talk.” Ava said as she stood up and walked into Maria’s room. “What happened in Roswell Zan?” Max asked as soon as he heard the door close. “A lot of shit. I’m not sure what happened with Maria and her parents, all I know is that she showed up at my parents place crying but before she could tell me what happened Kyle showed up and attacked me. Then everything exploded. True reason’s why Maria and Ava wanted runaway. Tess also attacked me but I never did get to see my parents and this all happened in there front yard.” “What do you mean true reasons? We already know why.” “Did you know that Tess hit Ava the night we ran away or did you know that her father was hitting Maria when he found out about us and that Kyle knew the whole time but told her he didn’t know. How about that Kyle thinks Maria is a whore because he thinks she slept with half the male population of Roswell.” Zan said through gritted teeth. “No I didn’t know any of that. How’s Maria holding up? I can’t imagine very well.” “I don’t know she hasn’t talked since we left my parents house. She has either slept or stared out the window. I’m really worried about her.” “I bet you are. God, if I didn’t already hate Roswell and most of the people in it, I would after hearing all that.” “Yeah me too. One more thing, Tess broke down after Maria went off on her, she wanted me to tell Ava she was so sorry, that she loves and miss her. I don’t know if you told her that we went back to Roswell but I’m giving you this information so if you decide to tell her you can.” “I’ll have to tell her now. She is going to want to know what happened to Maria if she is still isn’t talking. Do you think we should move to keep the girls safe? Because they are our main concerns.” “I’m not sure if anyone followed us or got our plate number but it might be a good idea if we looked to sell the car and get a new one just to be safe. And your right, Maria and Ava are all that matter to us.” “You’ve got to be beat from driving all night. Go rest! Ava and I’ll be out most of the day because she has to work this afternoon.” “Thanks man, but I need to call Michael and let him know we got home safe then I’ll go get some rest.” Zan said just before Ava walked out of his room. “What’s wrong with her?” Ava asked with tears in her eyes. “Come on Ave, I’ll explain everything to you before your due at work but we’ll go some where else.” Max said. “Ava, did she talk to you?” Zan asked with worry in his voice. “Not a word. She looks so broken, like her life just came crashing down on her. She didn’t make a sound but tears are flowing down her face like crazy.” Ava answered. “Thanks, I better get to her then.” Zan said as he kept his tears from falling down his face. Max grabbed Ava’s hand and pulled her out of the apartment as he saw Zan fighting from showing is emotions in front of them. Zan waited until he was sure they were gone before he went into his room and found her sitting on the as Ava had explained. He walked over to their bed and sat down next to her. “Ria, you need to tell me you’re all right. I need you to be all right. I love you so much. Please acknowledge me.” Zan pleaded with her. She just sat there, so Zan pulled her into his chest and layed there holding her. He never went to sleep, being too afraid she would talk and him be sleeping. Finally an hour later she looked up at him. “Promise me you’ll always love me and never leave me.” Zan pulled her tighter to him. “That is a promise that I will always be able to keep. I’m sorry about what happened. I wish I could take it all away. I shouldn’t have agreed to go back there.” “Zan, don’t blame yourself. I wanted to go back. Atleast now I know who my real family is. You, Max and Ava. Jim and Amy wouldn’t sign the papers.” Maria said as she snuggled even closer to Zan. “Can I ask what happened with your parents and how Kyle found us at my parent’s place? ”Well, I went over knocked on the door and Kyle answered it. The first thing he asked was where you were and I just ignored him and went to find my parents in the living room. When I got into the living room I found that the Hardings and Isabel were there. My mom saw me and pulled me into a hug that I pulled out of. I told them I was only there so they would sign the papers. Also before the Hardings asked about Ava, I told them that Ava wasn’t with me and she doesn’t want to come back here. That shocked them into silence. Isabel never said anything, just sat there glaring at me. I gave the papers to my dad, I mean Jim, he read them and laughed. He told me he wouldn’t let me leave to be with you again and then grabbed me by my arm towards my old room. He wouldn’t let me go, so I kicked as hard as I could in the balls, he went down like a brick wall and I ran out of the house to the car. Kyle must have followed me. All I was thinking about was getting to you and not paying attention to anything else.” Maria explained to Zan. “Did he hurt you?” Zan said through his anger. Maria just pulled up her sleeve to show him the huge bruise on her arm. “Holy shit, how bad does it hurt? God damn it I could kill him for this.” “It doesn’t hurt that bad but how am I going to explain this to Ava. She’ll think it was you because she saw me earlier.” “You’ll tell her the truth. Max was going to tell her everything before she started her shift at the bar this afternoon. I told Max about Tess hitting Ava and what Tess said before we left there. Ava is worried about you. She had tears in her eyes when she came out of here.” “I was exactly as you found me. I didn’t hear a word she said but I saw her lips moving. All I could hear were Kyles words about us. I’m so sorry I had you all so worried but my worst nightmare came true yesterday.” “I know baby but you need to get some sleep. We can talk more after you’ve slept. ”You need sleep to Zan.” “I know, so let’s sleep.” Zan said. Maria just nodded and fell asleep within minutes of closing her eyes. Zan kissed her head and whispered ‘I love you’ before he drifted off to sleep. |
