PART 2 Friday Afternoon, Roswell Marisa is pacing the room while Zan is still asleep from their trip to Roswell. Maria can’t handle the silence any longer and is about to wake up Zan when there’s a knock at the door. Hesitant on answering it, afraid to find who’s on the other side. Reluctantly she opens the door to reveal Michael. “Michael you scared the shit out of me and please come in before someone sees you.” Maria said, as she moved over so Michael could get in. “Didn’t mean to scare you. Zan told me to meet him here. I was shocked to see you answer the door.” Michael said. “Zan is sleeping. He drove the whole way here. Kyle doesn’t know that we’ve talked or that we were coming?” Maria asked. “No, I didn’t tell him. He knows that something is up because I’m missing a game tonight so I can spend time with Zan before you leave again.” “Great, that means Kyle will be gone when I go see my parents about signing these papers.” “I’m warning you Maria. Your father and Kyle will hurt Zan if he goes with you later.” “I’m going alone. Zan and I already talked about that.” “Talked about what?” Zan said, as he walked into where Michael and Maria were sitting. “About you staying here while she goes and sees her parents.” Michael answers before he stands up and gives his twin a hug. “You look happy Zan. Happier then I ever saw you when you were here in Roswell.” “I never was this happy living here in Roswell. I got to start fresh were no one considered me the town slacker/trouble maker because of the way I look or act at times. Plus I’m with the love of my life.” Zan said as he pulled Maria to him. “Well I’m outta here. I’ll see you two later.” Maria said then leaned over and kissed Zan on the lips. “I love you.” “I love you too. Keep your cell on my number so if he tries anything you can call me.” Zan said. “I will. Bye.” With that Maria was gone. “So do you think our parents would want to see me?” Zan asked. “Yes they would. They wanted to report you but the Sheriff wouldn’t do it. Plus it didn’t help that you ran away with his 16 year old daughter. And what was that about ‘If he tried anything’ who is he and what would he do?” “Sheriff Valenti, he use to hit Maria after he found out about us.” Zan answered. “I need to know whose idea it was to run away and why all four of you need to run?” “It was Maria’s idea. She was telling Ava that she couldn’t handle it at home and that she would miss us but she was gonna leave. Ave told her she wanted to go too. Max happen to walk in when they were discussing their plans. He tried to talk them out of it, he thought he had. But he told me anyway. The last straw came when Kyle started that last fight with me and I suspended again. I decided that I was down with Roswell and was gonna leave that night alone with out telling anyone. Then Maria and Ava showed up on my doorstep as I was getting ready to go. They told me they were leaving and we not coming back. So I told them that I was going with them. So we decided to call and tell Max that the three of us were leaving and never coming back to this town. He decided he was going to come with us because everyone he cared about was leaving. So that is how it all came about with the four of us.” Zan replied. “Are you guys happy together? Do you make enough money for the four of you? What about school? You were going to be the class valedictorian.” “Yes we all get along great. We have a small two-bedroom apartment. Max and I pay rent and the other bills while Maria and Ava by groceries with the money they earn. Max and I both got our GED’s. Hopefully Maria’s parents will sign those papers so she can go back to school but if not she’ll have to get her GED when she turns 18. Ava will just have to wait until she is 18 because you know her parents wont sign off their rights.” “Where do the girls work at?” “At a bar waitressing.” “How can they work at a bar being 17 and with both being reported missing?” “We got them some fake ID’s to use.” “Zan, do you feel safe letting two young beautiful girls working at a bar by themselves.” “Max and I go check on them at least once a night and we are always there to walk them home.” “Will you ever come back to Roswell?” Michael asked. “Not for over a year because we wont come back without Ava and Max. They are our family Michael.” “I’m your family too Zan. I don’t want you to go back to where ever you’re staying?” “Michael I can’t stay. It didn’t feel like we were family before I left, remember who your best friends is and who you chose over me. But I don’t want to fight with you. Also Kyle and Jim want me because they think I forced Ria to go. I don’t want to talk about this anymore, lets go see Mom and dad. “Fine but we will talk about this again before you leave.” Michael said as he followed Zan out of the hotel room. |
