PART 1 Maria is walking home after her shift at the bar. Ava had the night off and she and Max had gone out for some fun. She was half way home when she heard someone behind her, so she quickened her steps. But she wasn’t quick enough because a pair of strong arms grabbed her from behind. She screamed and went to hit her attacker until she saw who it was. “Dammit Zan, you scared the shit out of me. Why would you do that?” Zan just grabbed her and kissed her passionately. “I missed you ‘Ria.” Zan said after her broke the kiss. “I missed you too Zan. Are Max and Ava coming home tonight?” ”Probably. Can I ask you something babe?” “You can ask me anything you want.” “Do you regret running away?” “I’ve never regretted it Zan. I love you. I would go anywhere as long as I’m with you. Why do you ask?” Do you regret coming with me?” “Hell no, I’ve never been happier then I am now. The reason I asked was because I called and talked to Michael just to let him know we were still alive. He told me something’s that is all.” Zan replied never looking her in her eyes. “What aren’t you telling me Zan? I know you’re keeping something from me because you won’t look me in the eyes.” “Maria you don’t want to know.” “Just tell me Zan.” “Are you sure you want to know?” Zan asked. Maria nodded her head yes. “Your parents quit looking for you and said if you do come back now you’re not allowed back in there house. Kyle said if I ever returned he will kill me for ruining his family and that he’d also hurt Max too. Michael also said that Ava’s parents are still looking for her and if they find her they are going to send her to an all girl school in Vermont. Max and I were never reported as runaways because we are 18.” Maria now had tears running down her face as they reached their apartment. “Now do you regret it?” “Never. I’m sorry for crying, I can’t help it. I don’t think my parents ever loved me. Kyle was always there golden boy. Did you know that my dad use to it me after he found out about us. He wanted me with Michael Guerin, not the bad Guerin brother. He didn’t realize you were the better Guerin son.” “But I’m not the better son in Roswell. If people would check Michael and I out, they’d realize I was the all “A” student and Michael is the one always in trouble. It’s because he’s the jock and I’m not.” “I know babe, I know.” “If we could, I’d say let’s go back to Roswell but I’d never forgive myself when Ana was sent away. You and I could go back. We could get your parents to sign papers making you a legal adult then you could finish school.” “I’d love to do that but I’m afraid Kyle might do something stupid if he saw you. I would have to go to my parents by myself, you’d have to stay with Michael.” “I don’t want you going over there with your father, knowing he could hit you without my protection. But I will stay with Michael so you can get away from him forever.” ”I have this weekend off, let’s go then because Ava has to work. We don’t have tell her where we are going or about your conversation with Michael. I’ll go talk to someone about the papers for my parents to sign.” “Sounds good to me. I’ll tell Max so he’ll know if we don’t get back to move away from here with Ava to keep her safe.” Zan said as they reached their apartment and walked inside. “We’ll leave Thursday after you get out of work. We’ll Drive though the night, get to Roswell and get a hotel room. Then we will be able to rest. After we get up I’ll go see my parents and you can go see your family.” “All right but I’m tired so lets get to bed.” Zan said. “Zan, do you want more from me then I’m giving you?” “Maria, I don’t want you to do anything your not ready for. I love you and I’ll wait as long as you need me too.” “Thanks Zan and I love you too.” Maria said before she got ready for bed. By the time she was done Zan was in bed waiting for her. She got in bed and cuddled in Zan’s arms and they fell asleep. |
