Chapter 4 Next Morning Max is at school looking for Maria’s attacker when Kyle walks up to him. “Max, why did you hang up on me last night?” Kyle asked “Kyle I don’t have the time to talk to you.” Max said with pure rage in his voice. “What the hell is wrong with you Max?” Kyle asked but slowed down, afraid to find out but before he got his answer Max took off after Maria’s attacker. Kyle follows to see what is wrong with Max. “You’re gonna pay for what you did to her.” Max said as he socks the guy in the face. “What the fuck is your problem Evans?” The guy said but when he looked up and saw the pure rage in Max’s face he backed away a little. “My problem. I’m not the one who goes around beating up and raping girls Doug.” Max said before he attacked Doug again. Knocking him on his ass. Michael had walked up when he saw Max take off from Kyle. So Michael and Kyle pulled Max off Doug. “Max calm down.” Michael said having to use some of his power to keep Max back. “What Evans are you pissed because you didn’t get to her first. She is a feisty one. Had to hit her a couple of times to calm her down. I got a nice gift with her too. I got her innocence’s.” Doug taunted Max while Kyle and Michael held on to him. “Michael and Kyle get our fucking hands off me now. I’m going to hurt him for what he did.” Max said through gritted teeth. Now they had a crowd of people standing around wanting to see what got quiet, polite Max Evans so pissed off. “You want to know the best part was, she wanted it. She has wanted me since the sixth grade. Her and Parker. But I knew Deluca would be more fun to fuck then boring old Parker.” Doug said “I hope you enjoy your last few hours of freedom because you in deep shit now.” Max said while pulling a tape recorder out of his coat pocket. He felt Kyle and Michael had let go of him when Doug said Parker and Deluca. Max to the opportunity and punched Doug once more with a lot more force then his last two hits and knock him flat on his back. Before he could get to him again Michael and Kyle had a hold of him again. He never took his eyes off Doug until he heard her voice. “Max, please stop.” Maria said from behind him. “I don’t want you in any trouble. We have his confession on tape he’ll get what he deserves.” Max didn’t even think before he grabbed Maria and kissed and hugged her. She kissed and hugged him back. Michael and Kyle went over to Doug and grabbed him after they let go of Max when they heard Maria’s voice. “You aren’t going anywhere except with my father.” Kyle said through gritted teeth. “I can’t believe I ever considered you a friend. You’re a worthless piece of shit. You picked the wrong girl to mess with.” “Shut up Kyle. You, Guerin, and Evans are just pissed that I got a piece of that ass.” “Doug, I think it would be best if you shut up now because if you thought Max was bad, you haven’t had to deal with me.” Michael said squeezing Doug’s arm tighter. “You might want to check out your little whore now.” Doug said which made both Michael and Kyle look up to see Max and Maria in a passionate kiss; they also saw the Sheriff coming up behind them. “What is going on here?” Valenti asked which mad Max and Maria pull apart. “Sheriff, Doug Sohn is the one that raped Maria last night. I have his confession on tape plus all the students here heard him.” Max explained then handed Valenti the tape. “Thank you Mr. Evans.” Valenti said just as Michael and Kyle dragged Doug over to the Sheriff. Valenti replayed the tape to make sure he had enough to charge Doug with and that he did have. “Doug Sohn you are under arrest for Assault and Battery and Rape of Maria Deluca.” Valenti handcuffed Doug and lead him out of school followed by Max, Maria, Michael and Kyle. “Maria I will need you to come down to the station later to finish up out stuff.” Valenti said after putting Doug in the back of his patrol car. “I will Sheriff.” Maria said as she leaned up against Max. “I’m going to take her home so she can get some rest.” Max said “She needs it after last night. I will see you guys later.” Valenti said then drove off leaving Michael and Kyle staring at Max and Maria “Thank you both for helping Max. I really appreciate it.” Maria said finally looking up at Kyle and Michael. “My pleasure. If I had known earlier about it I would have hit him too.” Kyle said. “How are you feeling Maria?” “I’ll be fine. I’m really sore but with friends like you three I will be just fine.” Maria answered “Are we all just friends?” Michael asked looking directly at Max. “Are you talking about the kiss Michael?” Maria asked. Michael nodded. “I don’t know what’s going on between Max and I but it isn’t really anybody else’s business but ours.” “Michael, I can tell you that I have really strong feelings for Maria and yes I would like us to be more then just friends. Do you have a problem with that.” Max said. “No, Maxwell. I broke up with Maria over a year ago. I mean I still love her, I always will she was my first love but I’m not in love with her anymore. She deserves to be happy and if you can make her happy go for it.” Michael replied “Thank you. I mean its not like I wouldn’t have tried even if you said you had problem with it.” Max said looking away from Michael to Maria and gave her a smile. “I’m glad you two have decided what’s gonna happen to me. But yes I want more then just friends with Max. I have for awhile. I’m glad Michael that you wont try and stop us. Like what Michael said I’ll always love him, he was my first love also but I haven’t been in love with him for sometime now.” Maria said, then walked over to Max and grabbed his hand. “That is nice and all but what about Liz? Don’t you think she might be upset about this.” Kyle said “I don’t think Liz will mind.” Michael said “How do you know that Michael? Max and Liz had that whole look into your soul thing going on.” Kyle said “Kyle the key would in that sentence was ‘HAD’.” Maria said “Why do you care so much what Liz will think, she did break up with me remember.” Max replied getting annoyed. “That doesn’t mean she’ll want you to date her best friend.” Kyle said “Kyle stop it NOW.” Michael said getting angry. “Liz will deal just fine when she finds out.” “Thank you Michael. Max could you please take me home, I’m really tired. Kyle and Michael could you get Liz and Isabel at the Crashdown and we will tell everyone then.” Maria said “Okay see you two later. Kyle lets go back to classes.” Michael said then turned and walked in side followed by Kyle. “Well, he took that better then I thought he would.” Maria said. “I mean I know he broke up with me but you are still his best friend. I wonder how Liz will take it.” “I think she will take it like Michael did. She broke up with me. I was in love with her when she did but I moved on to you. You make me laugh a lot and she never did. I’ve been happier since we started hanging out again. I enjoy myself with you. I don’t have to be serious all the time it feels great.” Max said. “Yeah, I know what you mean about being happier. I mean I was happy with Michael but I feel more carefree with you.” Maria said. “You know who would make a good couple?” “No who?” “Michael and Liz. I know it sounds funny but they are so serious they would do great together.” “I never thought about it but now that you brought it up they would. I’m sure it would freak Kyle and Isabel out. If course not as a big surprise then those two getting together. I almost passed out laughing when they told us this summer.” “I know I was there. I was laughing just as hard. I thought it was a joke. Do you think we will be a shock to them?” “No, Izzy already assumes we are more then just friends. Kyle didn’t seem surprised just worried about Liz.” “That’s my brother for you always worries for his friends more then his sister.” “Your not even related last time I checked.” “Not yet but my mom and the sheriff are getting really close. I bet they will be married before school is out.” “Are you going to tell her about last night? Or will you let the Sheriff?” “I don’t want to tell her. Legally Jim can’t tell her because I’m eighteen but I’m sire she will find out. How am I suppose to explain the face? Oh I tripped. I don’t think she will by that.” “That is true.” “I could always tell her you beat me up. Then she will beat you with the newspaper like she did to Michael.” Maria joked. “I highly doubt she’d beat with a newspaper. It would be more along the lines of the Sheriffs gun or a bat. Plus your mom already scares me.” Max replied which made Maria start laughing hysterically. “Hey what’s so funny?” “I can’t believe you’re afraid of my mother.” Maria said then started laughing harder. “This is no laughing Matter.” Max said as he approached Maria’s house. “Well she’s not here so you can come in if you want.” Maria said once she calmed down enough. “If your gonna laugh I’m not coming in.” Max said then made a sad face. “Fine I will try and not laugh.” Maria said, as she got out of the jeep and walked up to her house followed by Max. “I have away to make you stop laughing.” Max said once they got into the house. Maria turned to face Max. “And what would that be Max.” Maria said. “Like this.” Max said then grabbed Maria into a passionate kiss. Maria put her arms around Max’s neck and pulled him closed. Max looped his arms around her waist. “Wow.” They said together. Maria pulled out of Max’s arm and took his hand and led him to her room. “Maria, what are you doing?” Max asked “I’m tired and I want you to hold me while I sleep.” Maria replied. When they got to the bed Maria pushed Max down and crawled on top of him and kissed him. “Thanks you for helping me with Doug. Now lets get some rest.” “Maria that wasn’t very nice.” Max replied as he rolled them over to their sides with Maria still on the top of him. “Night Max.” Maria said before she turned over. Max pulled her close to him and soon they were both asleep. |
