{Couple Days Later} Max, Maria, and Jim are sitting around the living room when Kyle, Michael, Isabel and Liz come in. Kyle walked over to Maria and gave her a hug followed by Michael. “How are you feeling? I see my brother has been making you feel better.” Michael said looking at his brother who was sitting next to Maria holding her hand. “I’m feeling better. I’m in a little pain from the broken ribs. It’s great to sit without fear of being hurt. And yes Max is making me feel great.” Maria answered. Then leaned over and gave Max a kiss on his lips. “Are you settled into your room?” Kyle asked after Maria kissed Max. “She’s staying here?” Isabel asked give Maria a glare. “Actually I’m living here now.” Maria said with a smirk. “Why? Don’t you have your own family to ruin.” Isabel said. “Isabel that’s enough. If you can’t keep your comments to yourself you wont be aloud at my house anymore.” Jim said. “Actually I’d like to have to talk with Isabel alone.” Maria said then pointed to the kitchen. “Michael can you help me up please. You guys and Liz will stay out here while we talk you got that.” Michael helped Maria up and she walked to the kitchen followed by Isabel. “What did you want to talk about? I don’t have all day.” Isabel said with an attitude. “Drop the attitude Isabel. If you keep up with this charade against me you’re going to lose Kyle. He really likes you. You make him happy. Kyle is my brother in every way but blood. So all I want is for him to be happy and if that’s you then I will help him keep that. I just wanted to know why you hate me so much?” Max explained. “I really like him but I’m afraid I’m going to lose him to you. I don’t hate you. If you want the honest to god’s truth I actually always thought you were nice. I guess you could say that I’m jealous of you.” Isabel said sounding defeated. “Why are you jealous of me? You have everything.” Maria said. “Because of you friendships with Kyle, Michael and Max. Those three drop everything when it comes to you. Like the day we got into that fight, they left Liz and I sitting on the Evan’s couch to go to you. I don’t have anybody that would do that for me.” “Do you know what happened that night they left you two?” Maria asked. “Just that you called Max. Max came out and got Kyle and Michael and left.” Isabel answered. “They saved my life. My adopted father came home really drunk after he found out about our fight and beat the shit out of me. He probably would have killed me if they hadn’t showed up when they did.” Maria said as tears slid down her face. “Oh god Maria I’m sorry. Is that why you need help getting up? I thought the bruises were from out fight? Why did he do this?” “It’s not the first time he hit me but this beating was about the fight with you because he works for you dad. Yes, that’s why I needed help up. He broke a couple of my ribs, so it hurts to try and stand by myself. But Max has been a lot of help to me.” “I never knew I’m sorry. Do you blame me for this happening to you?” “No, why would I? This would have happened even if we hadn’t got into that fight. It might have happen tonight or another night. I’m glad it happened now because I will be safer living with Kyle and Jim. Can we call a truce because we will be seeing a lot of each other with me living here and you dating Kyle.” “No truce. I’m sorry for everything. I’ve been the biggest bitch and I will understand id you won’t forgive me but I think that I’d like us to be friends. I didn’t give you a fair chance because of my jealousy.” Isabel said. “Isabel, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. You just have to know that I don’t want Kyle as anything more then my brother. I already have a guy.” Maria said with a smile because of Max. “You really like him. I think you two make a cute couple.” “Yes, I’m in love with him. I know we just started dating but I know that I love him. I’m just afraid that with Max being popular and me not that it wouldn’t work out between us. That’s why I haven’t said anything before about my feelings for him.” Maria explained. “Don’t worry about the popularity thing. You’re going to be hanging out with more then just Max. There is Kyle, Michael and myself. Of course Liz to but she follows whatever Michael and I say.” Isabel said. “Really that’s cool because I want to be with Max.” “Actually there is one thing we need to do before you some back to school.” Isabel said with a silly smile. “I don’t like that smile. You’re scaring me.” Maria said as she backed away from Isabel. Which caused Isabel to laugh. “We are going on a shopping spree.” Isabel said. “I don’t have the money to go shopping.” “It’s on me. I have lots of money. Plus I owe you a lot for the way I’ve treated you.” Isabel said. “Well, I’m not going back until Monday so we can go this weekend but I’ve got some money saved that I will spend.” Maria said. “You’re very stubborn like Michael.” Isabel said which made Maria laugh. “I bet you haven’t seen just how stubborn he really is.” Maria joked. Just then there was a knock on the kitchen door, which made Isabel and Maria smile. “What?” Isabel said with an attitude. Maria smiled even wider at Isabel’s fake attitude. “Is everything okay in there?” Came Michael’s voice. “You’ve been in there a while.” “I can’t believe they made Michael check on us.” Maria whispered to Isabel. “Michael go away, were not done in here.” Isabel said again with the fake attitude. “Okay, no need to get an attitude with me. I was sent to do this.” Michael said. This time they couldn’t help but laugh out loud and lean against each other to stay up. “Oh shit this hurts.” Maria said a little to loud because Max, Kyle, Michael, Jim and Liz come in the kitchen. What they saw shocked the hell out of them. Only to cause Maria and Isabel to laugh even harder. “I. . . have. . . got. . . to. . . stop. . . laughing. . . hurting. . . my. . . stomach.” “What the hell is going on?” Michael asked. “What does it look like we are doing jackass.” Isabel replied after finally getting herself under control. Maria finally stopped laughing and walked over to Michael and gave him a hug. “Why did you just hug me? Why were you laughing? Considering two minutes ago you and Isabel sounded like you were fighting.” Michael asked becoming really annoyed. “We weren’t fighting. We were actually getting along. She was only faking an attitude with you but you said ‘I was sent to do this.’ We couldn’t fake any longer because we started to laugh. I hugged you because I felt bad for you.” Maria said then turned from looking at Michael to look between Kyle and Max. Never taking her eyes off the two guys she walked back over to Isabel. “Now for you two.” Isabel said also looking at Max and Kyle. You could see them stiffen under their stares. “We are going to work on a friendship. You two will not but into anything that happens between us. And do not and I repeat DO NOT send Michael to do your dirty work again.” Maria said then turned to Isabel. “Anything you would like to add because if not I’ll see you Saturday. I’m going to lay down.” “You said everything. See you Saturday.” Isabel said. Maria walked over to Kyle and gave him a hug. Then walked over to Max gave him a hug and started to walk out of the kitchen but stopped, went back to Max and gave him a gentle kiss. Except it turned into a deep passionate kiss. When they final broke the kiss. Maria finally left the kitchen to go to bed leaving Max with the questioning eyes. “Well, I better go home and get cleaned up. I probably stink. I will see you guys later.” Max said as he was walking out of the kitchen. “I think I better go with him. Come on Liz.” Michael said following Max out of the kitchen leaving Kyle, Isabel and Jim. “I have to go to work. See you later. Kyle don’t leave Maria alone. Make sure there is always someone in the house when she’s sleeping. She is having nightmares about that night.” Jim said and then left. “Did it seem like they were trying to get away from us.” Kyle said as he walked over to Isabel and grabbed her into a hug. “Yes they did but we have to talk.” Isabel said returning Kyle’s hug. “Yes we do. Let’s go into the living room so if Maria needs me I will be able to hear her.” Kyle said then walked out of the kitchen into the living room and sat on the couch. Isabel followed him and sat facing him. “Kyle, I’m so sorry for everything. I’ve been the biggest bitch. I’ve already said sorry to the person who deserved it the most, Maria, and I have talked everything out. Actually she out me in my place and I deserved it. We are going to try and be friends.” Isabel said. “I’m glad to hear that I want my girlfriend and the one who I feel is my sister to get along. Plus now it seems my best friend is her boyfriend. He is also your friend. I just want to know why you hated her so much?” Kyle said. “I never hated her. I was jealous of her. Me, Isabel Guerin, was jealous of little ole Maria Deluca and it scared me. So I figured if I was mean to her it would go away but it just made it worse. Because I kept pushing you away from me to her. I was hoping you would do what Michael did but I realized that was never going to happen. But I thought she liked you more then just a friend. I never realized you two were like brother and sister. I was afraid I was gonna lose you to her.” Isabel said as a few tears slide down her cheeks. “Isabel you should have said something to me before now. You were right about me not doing what Michael was doing. But I think all that’s going to be changing once Maria starts back to school. Michael felt bad about giving up his friendship with Maria. I just hope Liz doesn’t make him choose between her and Maria because I’m afraid she would lose now.” Kyle said then leaned over and grabbed Isabel towards him. “I know what you mean. Michael is so gentle with her plus his brother is dating her now. But I don’t think Liz will be that stupid after I have a little talk with her. Oh yeah Saturday Maria and I are going shopping so if we had plans they’re canceled now. Call Max and Michael and hang out with them.” Isabel said. Then she leaned in and kissed Kyle. Kyle returned the kiss and things started to heat up. Just as Kyle was about to take off Isabel’s shirt. They heard Maria scream. “NO STOP. GET AWAY FROM ME.” Kyle and Isabel ran to Maria’s room to see her curled up into a ball with tears running down her face. Kyle walked over to Maria’s bed and sat next to her. “Maria wake up. It’s Kyle. No ones gonna hurt you.” He gently placed his hand on her shoulder to help wake her. Maria opened her eyes when she felt Kyle’s hand on her shoulder. Through her tears she recognized his face and through herself into his arms and cried. Isabel stood by the door watching with her own tears running down her face. “Maria do you want me to get Max.” Maria nodded her head against Kyle’s chest. “Isabel could you call and get Max here.” Isabel nodded and walked out to the phone and dialed Max’s number. “Evans here.” “Michael, this is Isabel we need Max at Kyle’s as soon as possible. Maria woke up screaming now she want’s Max. Kyle’s got her calmed down for the time being.” “I will get him. He’s sleeping then we will be right there.” “Michael, don’t bring Liz. I don’t think that would be a good idea.” “She went home already. See you in a few minutes Isabel.” Then Michael and Isabel hung up. Isabel walked back to Maria’s room. Maria was still holding on to Kyle for deer life still crying. “Max and Michael will be here in a few minutes. I will leave you two alone.” Isabel said as she turned to leave. “Don’t go.” Was all Maria could say. Isabel stopped dead in her tracks and turned back towards Maria and Kyle. Kyle waved her over towards the bed, so Isabel walked over and sat next to Kyle who was still holding Maria. They sat in silence except for Maria’s cries until Max and Michael finally got there. Max walked over towards the bed and Isabel moved so he could get to Maria. As soon as he sat down Maria went into his waiting arms. Max pulled her close being very gentle and kissed her forehead. “Maria, it’s all right. We will keep you safe. No one is ever going to hurt you like that again.” Max said softly to her. “I remember everything now. I didn’t want to remember everything because now I have to believe it happened to me. What did I do so wrong to deserve this?” Maria said. “You didn’t do anything wrong. You were just put with the wrong person.” Isabel said from beside Kyle. “Now you’re with the right people and we will keep you safe no matter what.” Michael said still standing in the doorway. “No one will ever hurt you like that again. I promise you this.” Kyle said as he patted Maria’s back. “Thank you guys.” Maria said as she hugged Max tighter to her. “Do you want to go back to sleep or did you want to go get something to eat at the Crashdown?” Max asked then kissed her forehead. “I don’t want to go back to sleep before I have to. So let’s go to the Crashdown. I need to talk to Tess and Alex about my job.” Maria said as she finally pulled out of Max’s embrace. “Now everyone out so I can get dressed. I know we are all friends but I’m not ready to show you my bod. Actually I won’t be showing anyone of you my bod.” “Really, I figured at least one of us would see your body at some point.” Michael joked before walking out. Causing both Maria and Max to blush. “Move it boys let’s let the girl get dressed.” Isabel said with a smile while pushing Max and Kyle out of the room. |
