Maria Deluca is sitting in her room thinking about how her life sucks. Her adopted father is a drunk who hits her. Her two best friends are 2 of 3 the most popular boys in school, Max Evans and Kyle Valenti. The third use to be her friends until high school when he became popular and she didn’t, Michael Evans, Max’s twin brother. She still cares about him even if he doesn’t about her. She is also madly, deeply, truly in love with Max but won’t tell him because she is afraid he won’t feel the same way. She is so deep in thought that she didn’t here her adapted father, Jerry, come in from work. “Maria, where is my dinner?” He asked her. “I did not cook. I have to be at work in 25 minutes, so you’ll have to fend for yourself tonight.” Maria says as she walks out the door to the Jetta she drives. Twenty minutes later she walks into the Crashdown Café where she works as a waitress with a girl from school named Tess Whitman. Tess’s parents own the restaurant but Tess and her brother, Alex, who is a college student, run the Café. As Maria is waiting on some Customers Max, Kyle, Michael, Liz Parker, and Isabel Guerin come in and sit in her section. She walks over to Tess and talks to her. “Tess could you take Kyle and Michael’s order tonight?” “Maria they are your friends why can’t you?” “Because I’m not in the mood to deal with their girlfriends.” Maria answered. “Sorry, but I can’t. My section is busy and Alex needs help with something in the back. Good luck babe.” Tess said as she walked away from Maria. Maria walked over to the table with a fake smile to take their order. “Welcome to the Crashdown. What can I get for you guys tonight?” Maria said with fake happiness. “A waitress with a better attitude sounds good to me.” Isabel replied. Maria just ignored her and looked at Kyle. “What can I get for you Kyle? Wait let me guess the usual as you call it.” Maria said with a genuine smile at him. “That’s right. Oh yeah tell Jerry that my dad and I will be there at 12:30 on Sunday for the game.” “Will do. What about you Michael?” “How are you tonight Maria and I’ll have the usual also.” “Not like he cares.” Liz said with a smirk, which made Isabel laugh. Maria just ignored them and continued taking the orders. “What can I get you Maxwell?” Maria said with a real smile and happiness. “Looky here. Looks like someone has the hots for you Max.” Isabel said ignoring the glares she was getting from Max and Kyle. Maria finally had enough of Isabel and Liz snotty remarks. So she turned all her anger into them. “WHY DON’T YOU BOTH SHUT THE HELL UP ISABEL AND LIZ. I’VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR ATTITUDES I CAN HANDLE. I DON’T KNOW WHY YOU TWO HATE ME. I’VE NEVER DONE ANYTHING TO YOU. I’VE ALWAYS IGNORED THE WAY YOU TREATED ME BECAUSE OF MY FRIENDSHIPS WITH KYLE, MAX AND SOMETIMES MICHAEL BUT I’M DONE.” Maria said rather loudly. “YOU WAN TO KNOW WHY WE HATE YOU I’LL TELL YOU.” Isabel said as she stood up. She is a good three or four inches taller then Maria but Maria didn’t back down. “YES, TELL ME ISABEL BECAUSE I WANT TO KNOW WHAT I DID TO YOU FOR YOU TO BE SUCH A BITCH TO ME.” Maria answered stepping closer to Isabel. Kyle and Max were trying to get out of their booth to stop things before they got more out of control but were blocked by people standing in the way. Tess and Alex had also heard Maria’s yelling and came to find out what was going on. “I HATE YOU BECAUSE YOU’RE A WORTHLESS PIECE OF SHIT.” Isabel yelled as she clenched her fists. “I’M WORTHLESS, THAT IS TO FUNNY COMING FROM YOU. A DUMB CHEERLEADER. YOU CAN BARELY PASS SCHOOL. AT LEAST I’LL BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF ROSWELL BUT YOU’LL BE HERE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. YOU’RE THE ONE WHO’S WORTHLESS BECAUSE OF THAT FACT.” Maria yelled back. The next part happened to quick. Isabel swung her fist at Maria but Maria ducked just in time. When she came back up she punched Isabel is the eye. Then they lunged at each other, punches connecting with both faces and curse words left and right. Before they knew it, they were being pulled away from each other. Alex and Max had a hold of Maria, while Kyle and Michael had a hold of Isabel. Liz just stood there in complete shock at what just happened. “Maria calm down.” Max whispered in her ear as he kissed it. “I was calm until you brought those two in here.” Maria hissed back trying to ignore what Max just did to her. “Let go of me now Kyle and Michael.” Isabel hissed. “Not until you settle down some.” Kyle said with anger in his voice at what she just did. “I want you two out of here now. Maria, go to the break room with Max and Alex. Isabel and Liz if you come back and start trouble again I will call the police.” Tess said. Then Max, Maria, and Alex went to the back. “We didn’t start anything, your waitress did. Maybe you should fire her.” Isabel commented. “Isabel enough. She didn’t start anything. Michael could you please take Liz and Isabel home. Take the Jeep, I will bring Max home later.” Kyle said. “Of course you take her side you always do.” Isabel said as she walked out followed by Liz and Michael. “Everyone I’m sorry about the disturbance. Your food is on me tonight.” Kyle said before he walked into the break room to join the others. “Kyle you didn’t have to do that. You should have left with Isabel. I didn’t want to start a fight between you two.” Maria said as she snuggled closer to Max who was holding her. “You didn’t start anything Maria she did. How is your hand?” Max said as he held her tighter. “Where did you learn that duck move? That was kewl.” Alex said with a smile. “I’m sorry Tess and Alex. I know what I did was wrong and I’d understand if you fired me.” “Fire you. Why would we do something like that.” Tess said a little surprised at what Maria said. “All you did was stick up for yourself.” Alex added. “Maria take the rest of the night off. I will handle your tables for the rest of the night.” Tess said as she went back to work. “Maria I’m sorry I brought those two here but I wanted to talk to you about my dad and me coming over on Sunday.” Kyle said as he pulled Maria from Max’s arms into his arms. Then his cell phone rang. “This is Kyle….Okay Michael we will be there in a minute….Bye.” Then Kyle hung up the phone. “What did he want?” Max asked “He took Isabel and Liz back to your house they’re waiting for us there.” “You two go. I will be fine. I will call you both later. Kyle tell dad hello for me.” Maria said before Kyle and Max left. |
