Chapter 9
{Maria’s Place in LA}

Maria and Max finally made it Maria’s place. Maria let them in and walked right up stairs to Laney’s room to rock and sings her to sleep. Max stood at the door and watched and listen to Maria put their baby to sleep. Finally the baby fell asleep and Maria gestured for Max to follow her out.

“Max, this is the spare room. I have some of your cloths in there. I brought them with me when I left Roswell so I had something of yours.” Maria said as she stopped in front of the spare room. “If you need anything my room is down the hall but I’m going down stairs to the kitchen to get something to drink would you like to come with me?”

“Sure, I’m kind of thirsty myself and we have a lot of talking and catching up to do.” Max said as he gestured for Maria to go.

“Yeah, I know but I thought you said we had talked enough for one night?” Maria said. “I don’t want to fight with you. I understand that your mad for me not telling you about your daughter but I all ready told you I made a huge mistake but I can’t change it.” Maria finished when she got in the kitchen.

“Maria, I know and I do forgive you but it didn’t get to see my daughter born. That is a very important thing but I don’t want to talk about that now. Let’s talk about something else.” Max said wanting to change the subject.

“Okay where are you going to college?” Maria asked.

“I got into UNM, USC, and UCLA plus Harvard and Duke. I haven’t decided yet but I know I’m going to whatever school is closer to you and our daughter because I can’t stand to live without you guys anymore. Did you graduate?”

“Yes, I was except to UCLA and it is very close to here. Also UNM excepted me. I got really good grade this year actually I got all A’s. Not much to do when you can’t party because your pregnant. I had great teacher that worked with me when I had to leave for the birth. I missed a month of school.”

“So was it weird going to school pregnant? I mean because you would have stuck out at our high school.”

“No it wasn’t weird because I wasn’t the only pregnant girl. There was 10 or 11 other seniors that were pregnant. They said it is really common around here to be a pregnant teen. I guess that was another reason I didn’t want to come back to Roswell and face everyone talking about me. I mean I know what my mom went through when she was pregnant with me.”

“That I can understand. How painful was it?”

“Let just say if you had been around you would never have been allowed to have kids again. I was lucky I had my Aunt Monica. She helped me out a lot. She wouldn’t allow me to work while I was pregnant and in school.”

“Do you think your Aunt would allow you to stay here now after we leave?”

“You don’t want me to come back to Roswell? I was gonna come home with you guys but I won’t if you don’t want me to.”

“No, I want you to come home but I wasn’t sure if you wanted to come home yet. I mean when I get home I have to tell my parents about us and our daughter plus there is still Liz and Michael the asshole to deal with.”

“The hardest person I had to face was you. I wasn’t afraid of what my mom would say because I didn’t care. Same with Liz and Michael but you I really cared what you would say and do. I know you probably don’t want to be with me but I know you will put up with me for Laney.”

“What are you talking about Maria? You’re the only one I want to be with. Laney is an added bonus. I won’t let you away from me again. I love you with all my heart and soul. You are the love of my life.” Max said as he walked over to Maria and grabbed her into a hug.

“You love me because I love you too. You are mine and I will never leave you again.” Maria said. Max pulled away but Maria pulled him back and kissed him.

“Okay I’ve seen enough break it up.” Came a voice from the doorway, which made Maria and Max jump apart.

“Kyle what the hell are you doing here?” Maria asked a little annoyed but happy to see him.

“Well Isabel told me that you two went here to put little Laney to sleep so I wanted
to see my soon to be sister.” Kyle explained.

“Are you by yourself?” Max asked with a smile.

“What do you think?” Alex said as he walked passed Kyle to Maria grabbed her into a hug and spun her around which made her laugh.

“Alex put me down.” Maria said while laughing.

“I missed you so much Maria. Everything changed when you left but I hope everything might start to get better. Are you coming home with us?”

“Actually Max and I just talked about that and he said he didn’t want me to come home.” Maria answered seriously but when she saw Alex look of hurt she busted out laughing. “We’re coming home if everyone wants us there.

“Of course we want you there.” Isabel said as she walked in to the kitchen and gave Maria a huge hug. “Don’t ever leave like that again. I can’t handle Max like that.”

“I won’t I promise.” Maria said as she hugged Isabel back. “I missed you Izzy. We were just getting close when I left. I hope we can work on our friendship.”

“You bet your ass. You can’t get rid of me now.” Isabel joked. “By the way I love the new hair.”

“You do, I was going to dye it back to blonde next week. I colored it brown after I found out I was pregnant because I couldn’t use the bleach I used to lighten it while I was pregnant. I was thinking about cutting it too but I’m not sure. What do you think?”

“I think I like it that way.” Tess said as she finally walked over to Maria. “I’m glad your okay. I missed you.”

“I missed you too Tess.” Maria said as she hugged Tess. “How is Liz?”

“Liz, what a new subject with us lately.” Isabel said with a little attitude.

“Okay what is that suppose to mean.” Maria asked confused.

“Well, Liz doesn’t hang with any of us anymore.” Kyle said. “She blamed the Aliens for you leaving and because that your two friendship ended. The only one she talks to is Michael and that is because they work together and she talks to Courtney a lot too.”

“What? Liz hated Courtney before I left. She hated her as much as I did. Well maybe not as much as me when I left.” Maria said.

“Well, Michael and Courtney stopped seeing each other after you left so Liz started talking to her and they had a lot in common. But recently Michael, Liz, and Courtney have hung more.”

“What about Michael?” Maria asked not really caring. “Do you know how long they
were sleeping together before I caught them?” Everyone avoided Maria’s eyes because no one wanted to tell her. “Just tell me I don’t care anymore. I don’t think I really cared that much when I caught them because it gave me an excuse to break up with him.”

“Michael quit hanging out with us right after you left. He would talk to Max but once Max found what happened between Michael and Courtney and you catching them he quit talking to Michael. I think Michael is jealous of Kyle and Max’s friendship because he use to be the one Max talk to but that changed when you left.” Tess answered.

“I asked Michael how long he and Courtney were sleeping together before you caught them and he said since Christmas.” Max answered.

“You know I knew something had changed because he wasn’t trying to get me to sleep with him that often. I think he got sick of me telling him no. I mean it hurts to know that he was sleeping with her for six months before I caught them but I guess when I wasn’t with him I was out with one of you guys that I didn’t pay attention.”

“Maria I’m sorry.” Kyle said.

“Sorry for what. That was the best day of my life and the worst day. I got to be with the man I was really in love with and we conceived our daughter.”

“Yes you did. So, how were you before you saw us?” Kyle asked.

“I was doing good considering I didn’t have the ones I loved around. I got strait A’s this year and even graduate after having Laney. The teachers here are a lot different then the ones in Roswell. They don’t look down on you because you are pregnant they help you out any way they can. I love living on my own without some one telling me what to do.” Maria answered. “You know what I might not be able to come home with you because where am I going to live? I can’t live at home anymore because there isn’t enough room.”

“That true because we now live at your house.” Kyle said.

“Actually, I’m not living there. I’m staying at the Valenti’s old house. I could move into Maria’s room and Maria and Laney could have the house because it is to big for just me and you will need more room then me with a baby.” Tess said.

“Sounds good to me but what will my mom and Jim say to that?” Maria said.

“I bet they would agree to it because your mom wants you home so bad.” Isabel said. “Then if Max’s gets kicked out by our parents then he will have some place to go.”

“I was kind of hoping that Max would live with us any way.” Maria said.

“Didn’t you two get in enough trouble last time you were alone together. I’m sure your mom wouldn’t like more grandchildren this early.” Alex said.

“Yeah maybe it would be a good idea if we didn’t live together just yet. I mean telling my parents that I’m a father is already going to kill them. Then trying to add moving out on top of that they’d probably have a heart attack or try to kill me.”

“Max, I want to be with you when you tell your parent about Laney. I want your parents to at least see her before they kill you.” Maria said.

“Just let me know when it is safe to come home because I’ll be with Alex when you tell them.” Isabel said.

“You think they will be that bad?” Kyle asked.

“I’m not sure. If I had told them this before I graduated I know I’d be dead. But I’m graduated now so I’m not sure.”

“Well, we will find out in one week when we return home from here.” Alex said. “So do you have enough room in here for all of us or do we have to go back to the other house.”

“Well, I have two spare rooms. So you can stay here the rest of the week.” Maria said.

“That isn’t enough rooms. We need three.” Kyle said.

“No, you only need two. Max will be in my room with me. I’m not letting him away from me just yet.” Maria said as she wrapped her arms around Max.

“Sounds good to me.” Max said with a wicked smile.

“Oh no you two. Alex and Max can share a room I will stay with Maria. I’m not letting you knock her up again.” Isabel said.

“Fine with me, Tess you could stay in there two. I can call over the maid from the other house to keep an eye on the baby.” Maria said letting go of Max and walking to the phone.

“No, don’t call the maid. I will take care of Laney if she wakes up. Actually I’ll sleep in her room to night.” Max said before Maria could dial.

“Okay, I’m off to bed I’ll see you all later.” Maria said and with that everyone went to bed.
