Chapter 10
{One Week Later Evan’s House}

Max and Maria are sitting in Max’s jeep in front of his house.

“Are you sure you want to do this?”  Max asked.

“Yes, I want to be there when you tell your parents.  Isabel and Alex will be here soon with Laney.  I think we should tell them before the get here.  So it wont be such a shock when they walk in with her.”  Maria replied.

“Okay let’s go in.  My mom has been missing you like crazy.  She misses us spending time with her.  So don’t be surprised if she attacks you when you walk in.”  Max said while they walked in.  “Mom, Dad I’m home and I have a surprise?”

“I’m really nervous now.”  Maria says when she hears Mr. and Mrs. Evans coming
down the stairs.  She steps a little behind Max.

“Oh my god Maria.”  Mrs. Evans says before she runs and grabs Maria into a hug.

“I’ve missed you but not as much as my son of course.  I like the new hair color.  You look good with brown hair sweetie.”

“I’ve missed you too and thank you.”  Maria said, while hugging her back.

“Nice to have you back Ms. Deluca.  I’m glad to see my son smiling again.”  Mr. Evans says.  Just as he finishes Maria cell phone rings.

“Please excuse me.  I need to answer this.”  Maria says as she walks into the kitchen.

“Mom, Dad we need to talk to you when Maria returns.”  Max told his parents.

“Okay I’m back.  It was Alex and Izzy they will be here in 5-10 minutes.”  Maria says walking back to Max and his parents.

“What did you two need to talk to us about?”  Mr. Evans asked.

“Okay, I’m a father.  I have a daughter.”  Max says really quickly.

“Actually we have a daughter.  Her name is Laney Isabella Maxine Deluca and she is three months old.”  Maria explained.

“Why are you telling this now?  Why didn’t you tell us before Max?”  Mrs. Evans asked.

“Because Max didn’t know until last week.  I didn’t know I was pregnant until three months after I left.  By then I wasn’t ready to come back here to Roswell.  I didn’t tell Max because I wanted him to finish high school without worrying about a baby.  Also I didn’t want to ruin his relationships with Liz or you guys.  I know what I did was wrong but I thought I was doing the right thing.”  Maria explained for Max.

“Ms. Deluca, I’m sorry you felt that way.  I can tell you really care about my son.  I’m not that Max is a father at 18 but I will not disown him or kick him out.  I love him.  I would have like to get to know my grand daughter.”  Mr. Evans explained.  After he finished Maria started crying.  So Mr. Evans went over and hugged her.  “I don’t hate you either Maria, you did what you thought was right.”

“Thank you Mr. Evans.  That means a lot to me.”  Maria said.  Just then Izzy and Alex walk in carrying Laney.  So Maria walked over and grabbed her baby.

“I’d like you to meet your grand daughter.”  Maria says walking over to the Evans.

“Can I hold her?”  Mr. Evans asked.  Maria nodded and gave Laney to her grand father.

“Will you be staying in Roswell?”  Mrs. Evans asked.

“Yes, I’m going to be living in the Sheriffs old house with Laney.”  Maria answered.

“I want to be close to my friends and family.  Plus Max and I are going to start dating.”

“Dating.  That sounds funny considering you two have a child together.”

“I know.”  Was all Maria could say.

“I do have a few more questions.  Weren’t you dating Michael before you left?  How did you end up with my son?  Are you positive that she is Max’s?”  Mr. Evans asked.

“Yes, I was dating Michael but I had feelings for your son.  I caught Michael with another girl.  Max came over after his date with Liz.  He kissed me and then you know what happened.  Yes, I’m positive that Laney is Max’s daughter because he is the guy I’ve slept with.”  Maria replied.

“Dad, that really wasn’t any of your business.”  Max said with some anger in his voice.

“I’m sorry Maria.  I shouldn’t have asked.”

“Don’t worry about it.  I’m sorry to sound rude but we’ve got to go.  We have to meet my mom, Jim, Kyle and Tess for dinner at the Crashdown.  But if you’d like to come your welcome.”  Maria said.

“We’d love to but we have other plans for tonight.  But I’d love if you and Laney came for dinner tomorrow.”  Mrs. Evans said.

“We’d love to.”  Maria said.  Then everyone said good bye.  Max, Maria, and Laney got in the jeep, while Alex and Isabel got into Alex’s car and followed.
