Okay, so, yesterday I go up to Kentucky Downs from my home in North Alabama. Turfway and KY Downs were running a split-schedule yesterday, and I got there just before post-time for the first race at Turfway. Greta was riding Marked Wish at (gulp) 90 to 1. Somehow, this was my first instinct, though: "you know, I should really wager on Greta, and the odds be damned." Unfortunately, though, I had not the guts, and thus I did not wager on Marked Wish. So I'm watching the simulcast rather intently, and Marked Wish is nowhere to be found as the horses reached the final poll. Then, literally out of nowhere as if God himself had intervened, a horse on the outside flew through the simulcase screen, much to he surprise of all present. Marked Wish - Paid $183 to win. Still, the money's not that terribly important. At issue here is my doubt. Please forgive me, Greta - I shall never doubt again! Godspeed!
