Disclaimer
Let me state up front that what you read here is not a conclusive list of our beliefs. I had hoped to provide a better list, but so far I have not.
We Believe...
The Christian Bible
We believe the Christian Bible is the verbally inspired, inerrant, infallible, Word of God, given to man by God. Generally speaking, it should be interpreted as any other book is interpreted, that is, literally in accordance with the rules of grammar and logic unless a literal interpretation would not make any sense or the context clearly indicates otherwise.
We believe that the evidence of historical and scientific reality proves the validity of Christianity's truth claims to such a high degree of probability that it gives honest truth-seekers psychological certitude.
We believe that the miraculous Divine inspiration of the original writings are reflected in a nearly perfect text to this day, marred only by very minute grammatical differences among the thousands of ancient manuscript copies available to us.
Scriptural references:
2 Samuel 22:31, Psalm 12:6, 18:30, 30:5, 33:4, 119:89, 119:105, Isaiah 55:10-11, 66:2, John 1:1-2, 14, 5:39-40, 6:63-64, Romans 10:8-10, 10:17, Hebrews 1:3, 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16
The "Trinity"
We believe in the personal, infinite, triune God of the Christian Bible -- God exists as God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe that God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things; that He enjoys a personal objective existence in reality; and that He is transcendent as Creator over His creation.
Scriptural references:
Genesis 1:26, John 16:7-18, Matthew 28:19, 1 John 5:1-8, plus hundreds of other biblical scriptures
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus is The Christ, Savior of all who believe and trust in Him, that is, he is the one and only true Son of God, born to a Jewish virgin as God in the flesh, and who died for the sins of all mankind, yet rose to life again after three days.
We believe that the life, death and resurrection of Christ Jesus fulfilled over 300 Old Testament prophecies, thereby giving us substantial evidentiary reason for belief in Him as our Lord and Savior.
Scriptural references:
Isaiah 7:14, John 1:1-14, John 10:36, John 14:9, Matthew 1:18-25, 1 Timothy 3:16
Traditional Professions of Faith
Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Nicene Creed
We believe in one God, the Father, the almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, from God, Light from Light, true God from true god, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
All scriptures NIV unless otherwise noted.
